My eternity ring had made couple of deep scratches on my ering and I''ve only been wearing them together for less than a year. I know this is inevitable but I just want to know if there is going to be more damages to the ering than just aesthetics. The deepest scratches are at the base of the prong. I don''t think it''ll ever get to the point where the diamonds on the eternity will completely cut of one of the prongs, but is there such a risk? thanks for any input.

Are your rings gold or platinum? My understanding is that the structural integrity of the ring is not jeopardized if the rings are platinum, but it could be a problem if they are any type of gold.

I don''t think there is any risk of your eternity band completely cutting through one of the prongs. It''s the diamonds that cut through the metal, so however far they stik out is how much the ring will be eaten into. Many don''t mind this and just keep one side of the e-ring facing the eternity band so only one side is scratched.

Oh thanks very much for the reply. My rings are both platinum. What you said about cutting only as much as the diamond is sticking out makes a lot of sense. I guess it''s safe to assume the only damage will be how the ering prones will look, which is not a big deal unless someone is examining very closely.

my wife had the same problem so i bought her a 2MM spacer ring.

Did they look good together? I thought about it but not sure how 3 rings would look on my finger.
