Hello Everyone!
I don't really want a traditional engagement ring and our budget right now is tight - there are so many other things i think the money should go toward if we get engaged and married. Having said that, i would really like something that has presence and (some) bling
I thought a nice decision would be to get a pretty band that i can wear and if i decide to, later on (if the budget allows it) i could add something more "ering-y" to it. I have always loved the look of bands, eternity or otherwise.
Originally, I thought perhaps i would like a 5-stone ring for an engagement (ala kcoursolle, orbaya etc) because they are sooo beautiful and you get bigger stones
. however, when i went and tried some on i was sad to find out i didn't love them on me
.
I think an eternity (or seven/nine stone) band is what i will eventually go with. Yesterday, i stopped by a local jeweler's that i like and she helped me try on a variety of bands and carat weights....1ct, 1.5ct, and 2 ct. Which one do you think i liked
?
They were all beautiful and i would be happy with any of them, but i figured since i am foregoing an "ering-y" ering, i will likely just wear this ring and a flat band. i want to get something i won't have to/want to upgrade if i can avoid it (which may mean staying away from PS
)
The two carat band was a gorgeous U - Prong band which allowed a lot of light in and was the design i originally loved
i can't get over the difference it makes in the light and actually how big it looks! She put it next to a 3 carat band that was set differently and they looked almost exactly the same....i can't get it out of my head.
The price for this ring was $2900 - the diamonds were very pretty - i don't know the color or clarity, but they faced up really white. Do you think this is a reasonable price? Do you think i could find it for less money through an online vendor? is it better to buy locally or no?
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated!
