ERD legacy replica too similar to gf's David Yurman ring?

After acquiring much information from this forum, I decided to go with ERD for a cushion cut diamond. Chris at ERD was very helpful and found me a very nice 1.03 carat, H, VS2 "X-factor" cushion within my price range. I liked the "cut beyond" cushions and also the GOG antique cushions but they were out of my price range for the size I wanted. I know my gf likes cushion halo rings, and so originally I was thinking about going with a Legacy replica for the setting. ERD has the "Heather" which I think looks fantastic. The question I face now is to stick with the Legacy replica or go for a different type of setting due to the fact that the gf has a new David Yurman ring which looks a bit like a Legacy setting and has a much larger gem stone (obviously not a diamond though). Will her DY ring make the engagement ring look small? The gemstone in the DY ring is 11 mm. Are there any examples out there of ladies retiring a ring so as not to conflict/upstage their engagement ring? Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think that her DY will compete with her e-ring at all. In fact I think it's a testament to how much she really likes these types of settings. ERDs Heather is a beautiful setting and a 1ct cushion is going to look amazing and large in it. It's unlikely that she will be wearing the two rings side by side and even if she wears the DY as a RHR , there is no way that it will out shine or out sparkle her ering. I think that you've made a great choice! :))

Personally I think you are way over thinking this. The DY ring is nice, but it is costume jewerly...point...blank. Completely different playing fields. I say stick with the legacy.

Before DH asked me to marry him I had MANY rhr's that I wore that were large costume jewerly pieces. I still wear them and I would never dream of comparing them to my engagement ring. Nor did I feel my .75ct RB was a downgrade from my 4ct blue topaz. Just saying that in a sentence sort of sounds crazy to me

I would definitely move forward with the legacy. I think ERD does a great replica and she will love it! :appl:

HI:

Unless she is planning to wear the DY ring and her new ER on the same finger--then NO competition. (ER wins.... :)) )

cheers--Sharon

The DY ring is great, and I have a DY bracelet that would be a perfect compliment to it, but believe me, there will be no contest between that and a beautiful Legacy replica. I have and love several rhr, I wear them, and change them out daily, but my ering is the daily star, in my mind and on my hand. Why? Because it is special! I'm sure your lady will feel the same.

I'm in the over thinking it camp. All that Yurman ring tells me is that the Legacy is just her style. That cushion is a perfect choice too.

I have a DY ring that I wear on my left ring finger. It is a large diamond crossover and frequently gets mistaken for a wedding ring. It was a gift from my guy a few years ago. We had both been married before and wanted to wait awhile before taking it one more step. Now we are ring shopping. The DY has close to 1.2 TCW in melee and i am looking at a Victor Canera halo which is going to be much more delicate in style. When I get my e-ring, I plan to move the DY to my right hand and will keep wearing it every day. So, no, I don't think it is anything to worry about.

Thank you all for the help. I feel much more comfortable about the situation. Another option would be to go with a Harry Winston inspired halo, but I prefer the look of the Legacy and also feel that her DY ring indicates her preference somewhat. Any thoughts on modifications to the "Heather" to make it a bit more unique? I thought about adding milgrain along the inner portion of the ring.. just something to give it a little more detail... I'll have to talk more with the guys at ERD. I'm sure they have suggestions but if anyone out there has any cool ideas I'm all ears. Thanks for the help.
