Does ERD do chunky cushions as well? I gave Mark a call since a saw the large selection of cushions and he mentioned that he has some chunky cushions as well. He was in a metting so he couldn''t talk long. He''s going to get back with me this afternoon but I was just surprised to hear this. I hadn''t read it anywhere else on PS. Is this new that he carries them as well? I thought GOG was the only one?

No, chunky cushion is around, but sometimes a hit and miss in the search for good light returns and chunky facets, only that GOG has a signature cut that always results in a chunky facets with good light return.

GOG's new chunky type cushions are their signature ' brand' if you like, ERD can certainly obtain chunky type cushions but they do not have their own line to the best of my knowledge. If you tell Mark what you are looking for he could probably find you something.

So GOG''s are probably better is what you''re saying?

To me it depends who has what you want at the time you want it - both are great vendors who offer great diamonds.

She likes the chunky cushion look and I''m just looking for the best diamond for my money.

I just looked back on your last thread where you mentioned your GF has come to love GOG''s chunky cushions, I would stay with those in that case.

Mark can find nice cushions. Are they cut to the level/light return GOG''s signatures are? No one can say for sure, because you can''t get an ASET from ERD. My guess is, no. But, that''s just a guess.

Just for clarification. Every single vendor has access to chunky faceted cushions dt. What you are associating with "chunky faceted" is our signature line which I have created from the ground up to produce the highest optics attainable within a chunky faceted cushion. In the world of cushion cuts they can basically be broken down into one of 2 facet styles. Modern faceted and antique/chunky faceted. We, along with ERD, WF, Todd, Wink, etc. have access to various supply houses which mostly cut modern faceted cushions but there are a few out there cutting chunkies. These however are not to be confused with my signature line. After years of calling in chunky faceted cushions for clients I found myself time and again saying ... if only I could alter this facet set ... alter these angles ... for what purpose? To make them the brightest and most fiery chunky faceted cushions one will ever lay eyes on. After experimentation and cutting multiple prototypes we finally got it right and THAT is what is our signature chunkies. There is only one place in the world to get them. If you''d like to educate yourself as to the different appearances that can be attained within the chunky facet style cushion cut I have published a number of videos showing just this which you can see on Vimeo. Just becuase a diamond has a chunky facet structure does not mean they will all look the same or have comparable light performance. You''ll see this plainly in the videos. Hope that helps.

Kind regards,
Jonathan

Thanks Jon. That clears up a LOT.

I''m going to stick with my instincts and go with the GOG chunky cushion. Both my GF and myself have loved them since seeing the video comparing the 1.07 G VS2 (which I immediately reserved) and the H&A round. I''ve also reserved the 1.15 H SI1. Since I can''t see them in person and both have good qualities, can you PLEASE do a video comparing the two? I need help making a decision. More importantly, I''m in a time crunch and have to order by tomorrow!!

THANKS!

I think it is best if you call Jon right now rather than to rely on him reading this post if it is that urgent.

Give him a call, he might have logged off here and won''t see this in time.

Charlie took some pics to help me compare (I''m not going to say which is which) ...

2/4

BTW ... The first 2 are in daylight.

3/4

These next two are spotlighting pics ...

For me, the one on the right, love the distinct maltese cross and the square shape more.

Not an expert but the one on the right is more appealing to me. Either one is gorgeous, so fortunately you can''t go wrong.

That was my first inclination...looks more like the ones I''ve seen most people buying from him lately. I think because
it appears like it has more squarish corners (even though they are still curved).

I vote for the one on the left but heck - they are both super!

I'd want to see a video of the two. Those that may not look the brightest in daylight/diffused, are sometimes the more firey. If the brightness is just slightly lacking compared to another, I'll tend to go with what's got more fire...

GOG is a great vendor and their chunkies are very nice especially if you are in a hurry and are purchasing soon! You won''t be disappointed.

If you have the time and patience to search around other vendors can find chunkies but like mentioned above they''re not guaranteed to perform.

If I''m not mistaken ERD did source Boston Jeff''s famous cushion but it took lots of time and research
