Is there anything that you might want to consider doing differently for a setting for a lefty vs a righty?

Maybe get a bezel or a low setting to protect the stone more? Also, if you haven''t gotten the stone yet, make sure the girdle isn''t too thin. Hope that helps.

I suppose it depends on the wearer''s lifestyle more than handedness. I''m a lefty. The only thing I''d say has been a problem is I''ve bent a few shanks from lifting a heavy object that has a handle. Like a big suitcase or sales sample case, etc. Make sure that the shank is thick at the bottom and not thinned out like they sometimes are if a jeweler sizes it. Aside from that, there''s no problem that I see. I haven''t noticed any tendency to batter the diamond or anything, lol.

As a southie myself, I think this is a really good topic! I''ve found that right handers hardly ever even use their left hands, so rings are really not in any stressful situations. We lefties are different! I think we use both hands equally. Considering this, priorities for me are: a strong metal (mine is 18k white gold, less pliable than platinum), comfortable shank with structural strength, low set stone that doesn''t snag or bump on things, bezel set stone. I''ve added a picture so you can see what all of this criteria merged into for me.

I feel bad for lefties! My husband is a lefty and his ring has gotten scratched and dinged waaay faster than mine. Mine still looks brand new, and his looks a bit worn. Oh well, nothing you can do right? Just get a durable ring with a good warranty/maintenance policy, ideally with free polishing.

I''m a lefty. I had an emerald engagement ring but didn''t wear it everyday. When I designed a diamond anniversary ring it incorporated all bezeled or semi-bezeled stones (part for comfort, part just my preference). It''s a very comfortable ring. Ironically although I wear my wedding ring on the left (a plain gold band) I ended up moving my diamond band to my right hand just because it just felt more comfortable. Maybe it''s just me, but other than my wedding band I don''t really like wearing rings on my left hand.
