Engagement setting price question & Opinion of Since1910.com

I am looking to purchase a 15-year anniversay upgrade ring and could use some feedback. My price range is ~$10k (with which I would like to purchase the engagement setting, diamond, and wedding band) give or take a couple thousand.

I am in love with this 3-stone princess cut channel setting & matching wedding band in platinum at since1910.com/H.L. Gross & Bro. Jeweler (Item #1265C):
https://www.since1910.com/engagement/three-stone-princess-cut-engagement-ring-with-channel-set-princess-sidestones-scs1265c-ps2560.aspx

The featured setting is $4950, which includes the price of the side stones and channel-set stones (G, VS2-SI1). I am looking to purchase a 1 ct center stone. It seems to me the side stones should be ~1/2 the ct of the center stone.

Since1910.com contacted the setting manufacturer for me and there is a setting (item #1265E--not on their site) that has two 0.5 ct side stones for $7150.

I've looked at both Blue Nile and James Allen -- I lvoe the ring I found on Since1910.com and it has more cttw in the accent stones than the other two sites' setting options. I don't care for Blue Nile's setting option (the 3-stone Pave setting) and James Allen's setting is just so "industrial" looking to me.

So my questions are:

1. Would the 0.7 cttw side stones look out of proportion with a 1 ct center stone?

1. Is the $2200 price difference for the setting reasonable? (from 0.7 cttw to 1 cttw for the side stones and band)

2. Does anyone have experience with Since1910.com? Good or bad?

Thank you in advance for your reply!

I think nearly 5K for that setting is a lot of money, and over 7K for bigger side stones is a complete ripoff.

Is it tacori? I think it might be. I think you pay a bit of a premium on tacori, but that's not to say they aren't beautiful settings. You may be able to get the same setting custom made by a jeweller cheaper :)

That seems high in my opinion, but I am not familiar with since1910.com, so not sure what their price ranges are. I would lean towards 2023's suggestion of contacting one of the custom PS vendors and see what they could create for you, combining the ideas you like from this ring, as well as personalizing it for you. It may be less expensive and you could end up with higher quality diamonds, as well, if you go that route.

Best of luck!

Thank you everyone!

I lucked out today and finally figured out the setting manufacturer -- it's S.E.S. Creations and the setting is their Perfect Twogether from the Forevermark collection. I also located the setting on Solomon Brothers but unfortunately thier site doesn't give me as many specific details as Since1910.com.

I have to ditto this. For that price I would have it made and add a few of my own touches (like someone else suggested).

You still have to buy the 1ct diamond as well...and as your budget is 10k approx, if 7k is on the setting, you are going to be really struggling to find a 1ct diamond with 3k.

Send the picture to a few jewellers you like and get some quotes on some custom made rings.

You also might love the setting on line, but if you try some settings on in person, you may change your taste, and custom make will allow you to modify that too.

A 10k budget for 2 x 0.7 carat diamonds, a 1 carat diamonds, and smaller diamonds down the side, as well the platinum for the ring, that's a lot to buy for 10k. If you go custom, you can get smaller side diamonds, like 0.4, or whatever, which will be cheaper and in your first post you did questions the balancing with the centre diamond etc...
