how many ppl actually have insurance on their engagement ring/wedding band? what do you all pay a year/monthly?

i bought the ring and will be proposing in a few weeks and i dont want to have another expense and dont see why it is an necessity to have insurance on a ring aside from theft. if the diamond falls out or the ring has any issues it can be taken back to the vendor or manufacturer to be fixed under warranty.. i bought a memoire setting and from my understanding its unlikely anything will happen to it.. as far as diamonds falling out etc.

just wanted to hear the other side of hte argument and get some feedback.

thanks

If you can''t afford to replace the ring without hurting financially, you need insurance. All kinds of things can happen, loss, theft, the diamond falling out and you not finding it (and likely that WON''T be covered by a vendor, it isn''t their fault), you smacking it on a shopping cart and cracking it (happened here on PS), dropping it accidently down the dish disposal (yours truly). Trust me. If you can''t afford to replace it, the insurance is worth it.

what if you lose it/damage it?

Ditto everthing Neat said.

I purchased insurance as I think it wouldn't be wise to go without it. Girls lose rings all the time. As for the rest of your question, I think I am paying somewhere between 100 and 150 per year. Similar to what the above posts have stated, I think that's a very small cost when compared with what it could potentially save me to replace the ring.

No no! Not unless you have an insanely expensive ring! Mine is like $80 a YEAR for both my ering and wedding band. It's usually between 1-3% of the total value per year depending on whether you live in a high crime/high claim area or not.
