Hello....I have a few questions about ring sizing that I figured some of you might be able to provide some insight on. I received my completed engagement ring Tuesday evening. I am very impressed (picture below). I told my fiance what size ring I wear (4) and that is what he got. I have worn two somewhat plain bands on my right hand for years that my grandmother had made for me and those are also a size 4. I guess since they are equally weighted (nothing top heavy) I never noticed that they spin around quite a bit. My rings seem to fit very well in the morning and throughout the day, but in the evenings they are too big. It is now getting pretty cold here and maybe that is making my hands shrink up a little.

Last night I was pretty frustrated with my engagement ring when I was trying to do some computer work because it was spinning around after hitting just a few keys. Figured it was something I would pay attention to and make a sizing decision later. I guess my question is do others have this problem? I feel like if I get it sized down I would not be able to get it off in the first part of the day or the summer. I figured there would be a little movement just because of the size and the height of the diamonds, but it can get pretty annoying when they end up between your fingers every 30 seconds. I am going to go visit with my jeweler that helped design the ring and see what he thinks, but I usually go there middle of the day when it fits great. Wanted a few other opinions/ideas before I went. Thank you everyone for your help!

It might be worth getting sizing beads or a butterfly sizer put in. When you get married you'll be wearing another ring with it, pushing it up more on the finger and the width in total of both rings will be snugger. My rings in winter are a lot looser than in summer. I have to lube the hell out of my fingers in the summer sometimes! But also note that my hands are different sizes. My right ring finger is easily a 6.5+. My left ring finger is a 5ish at the base and a 6.5 at the knuckle. I have them sized to a 6ish with beads on the inside now so that they go over the knuckle. They're going to spin any way below that.

Unfortunately, I cannot see the picture. But never size a ring in the winter since your fingers are likely going to be larger in the summer (unless it is clearly the wrong size). And once you wear a wedding band with the e-ring, that will also make the e-ring a little more snug. Some people have larger knuckles than lower finger size, so their rings are just going to spin some. For a temporary and cheap fix, you can get some little plastic things from Claire's which will attach to the shank on your palm side and make the ring more snug. At the very most, I'd consider adding sizing beads. But I would not resize until you have the wedding band and see how they fit in the summer at the time of day they are the tightest.

(Post before mine was posted while I was typing!)

I've put sizing beads in all my top heavy rings; I prefer one bead dead center in the bottom vs. one on each side. Good luck! :angryfire:

Pretty much the same advice you've already gotten; don't size in the winter, wait until you have your wedding band etc. For what it's worth, my hands are the same. Rings are tight in the morning and falling off at night. My fix is usually to take my rings off once I get home, LOL.

Thank you everyone! I actually stopped by the jewelers on my lunch break and talked with him about a few things (insurance carriers, appraisal, sizing) and he felt the ring when it was on my finger and said he would NOT go down a size or put the beads in as of now. His thoughts were it has been pretty cold in the last few days, and I would be miserable during the summer months if I went down any in size. As for the sizing beads, he said if I can live with it until we get the wedding bands that would be the best and it would help raise it on my finger. Since my setting is a Tacori, it has quite a bit of detail on the back of the ring, and the inside has the Tacori stamp. My fiance was also talking about having the inside engraved, so that would interfere as well. Looks like I will just be dealing with it until another decision is made. A reason to set a date and get the wedding bands I guess ;)) !!

A very temporary solution is to wrap a little bit of a foam bandaid around the base of the ring. The foam will help it grip and not spin. :)

I also own a "spinner" - it all depends on external (and my INTERNAL) temperature, what I've done during the day (hands hanging down after a lot of walking, or level if I've been on the computer), water retention... etc.

I agree not to size in the winter because come spring/summer, you'll be resizing again - and that is not a good thing! I like the idea of sizing beads - haven't tried them yet, but worth looking into as they do help to stabilize a top heavy ring.

Good luck!
