Engagement Ring Insurance

I purchased an engagement ring a few short weeks ago, and have had the ring insured through my insurance company. With that said, the person whom I spoke with said that once I present the ring, it becomes hers, and at that point she will have to insure the ring on her policy.
Is this what everyone else has experienced? Ideally,I would rather the ring remain on my insurance. I don''t really want to share the documentation with her as it shows the price I paid. I wanted that to be a secret.

Wha? Why can''t you just have both of your names on the policy, then it wouldn''t be a problem..Just make your Fi a policy holder.

Got the answer to my question - if we are living at the same address, I can keep the insurance in my name indefinitely. Problem solved!
