So, i finally think i narrowed it down to 2 settings and have a general idea on the stone...

Setting: My future fiancee wants a small band... small and delicate. I am between this:

1. photo_11111111112222222222333333333344444444445555555555666666666670.jpg

2. something similar to this one - http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/18k-White-Gold-Thin-French-Cut-Engagement-Ring.html

it would be awesome if i could find one that tapered in a little towards the middle as it goes into the main stone. Im thinking the band should be 2mm or less.

Main Stone:

Budget - about $4000
Type - Princess cut

I would like something around 1ct that is very eye clean and bright (sparkling).

Thanks for any feedback you could offer me!

thanks for the reply. I like those ones as they taper in a bit but im looking for a setting with paves... the solitare i like is that twist one.

Also, is 18K or 14k white gold better? much of a difference?

thanks,

chris

I'm a sucker for twist solitaire shank (I'm biased apparently because I have one myself) but it gives it an unusual twist to an otherwise simple plain ring but still classic, and you can pair it with almost any band you want! more versatile

#1 is classic, unique, and beautiful.

then you may want to take a look at this one. it's alot more expensive than the other one you seen and you can ask them if they can change the head for princess. this is also my e-ring setting and I love it

If she really wants a thin, delicate shank, the twist one might be too substantial, especially after you pair it with a wedding band.

hey minmin001,

thanks, i actually do really like how that tapers in... but i think im more of a sucker for the original one that doesn't have that white gold border... seems like im between the original 2.

Should i try to buy the setting locally so i can see it? Or is it better to do that online?

btw, what is the consensus on white gold (14k 18K) vs. platinum?

worth the extra cost?

thanks,

chris
