Opinions needed please :)

I have been working Barbera at UnionDiamond on a platinum diamond engagement ring. Does the price on both this diamond and the setting below sound good? After shopping most of the larger internet jewelry sites as well as several wholesalers and retailers, these prices seem really good to me. I have educated myself enough about diamonds to have landed at this price point and am just trying to get the most for my money.

The diamond specs and price:

GIA
1.70ct
I/VS2
Table 58%
Depth 61%
33.9° crown angle
40.5° pavilion angle
$10,285

More details on the stone:

The ring:
$2036
Baguette and Round Diamond Engagement Ring weighing 5/8CTW

Though I won''t comment on the ring (haven''t looked, and not at all knowledgeable), the diamond seems primo, and the pricing advantaged, based on the broad market of comparables...without respect to the fact that this is well cut, which it seems to be.

Seems like nice work!

My goal is to find a really good cut stone, while giving in some on the color. UnionDiamonds has told me that the above stone just barely misses the GIA ideal cut mark due to its 58% table.

Did I notice your initially posting the original thread without crown & pavilion angles, and then adding that info later? Regardless, I give (perhaps even more credence than I should) a lot of credence to the HCA reviewed on this board, found yours scored around .7, (with one of those unusual "out of the box that I don''t understand" phenomona, but a .7 nontheless), and saw that it was good.

Perhaps your diamond got a lucky discount by not being in AGS0 proportions, such that you''ll benefit from that. Overall, crown & pavilion should tell a lot more about the look of a diamond than the table, so I think you''re probably good to go.

Best,

Union Diamond is going to be calling me today when they this diamond in hand. Barbera at UD has offered to snap some digital pictures to send to me as well for review.

My question to the more experienced members here is what other questions should I ask about the diamond. I feel like I have covered alot of bases already but want to make sure I ask every last detail that I should.

Thanks in advance!
