Firstly I would like to sincerely thank everyone for their participation in this site. It has helped both educate and confuse me at the same time. With countless threads read, youtube links watched. It has honestly helped me greatly in weeding out so many duds.

I have nailed down which jeweller I would like to work with. However, I have hit a brick wall in terms of choosing between two options for my cartier style 1895 setting with pave shoulders.

Both GIA XXX. I have tried to put all the information I can down in the picture below. The 2.59 has perfect HA, whilst the 2.51 seems to be 1 degree off. Both look amazing but with the feathers in the 2.59 I am a little hesitant despite all my research and reassurances. The difference is approx. $3k (the VS2 being less).

I wholeheartedly welcome your insights and advice.

Spending that kind of money, I'd go with whichever one you are more comfortable with -- and not worry about the $3K... But that's me. [emoji12][emoji108]

I guess what I am really asking is if VS2 with Feathers and HA is better than the VS1 without HA, but no feathers. The other thing of note is the proportions of the VS2 are more classic. Having the two options side by side shows the difference, but when set will the crown height be of much importance?

The other thing I guess, is which is more important considering the HCA between F/B/S/S between the two?

Can you get an idealscope of both stones? Did you see both in person? Which one appealed to you the most?

For myself, I'd go for VS2 stone. Feathers would not bother me and they are usually eyeclean especially in a VS2 but you should check that for yourself. Plus it has a smaller table. The first stone is on shallower side, which gives you a bigger spread but may affect light return.

Based off the gia and the hca that you provided I would go option 2 and it's not even close. 3k less and the crown and the pavilion angle combo works better. Option 1 has too steep a crown.

So do the cluster of feathers not worry anyone? Am I being overly sensitive?

My worry irrational as it may be, with the plot showing the feathers clustered together, that it might my a fragile diamond.

Granted, it is eye clean, and looks sparkly. I guess that since I've seen the certificates, whether mind clean is justifiable bearing in mind the lack of H&A and larger table of the other VS1.

I've got to pull the trigger this evening as I'm on a short deadline before the proposal date.

Any other insights and opinions are greatly appreciated. Promise to post pics when the final ring is made.
