It's been many years since I have done the wedding thing. Most of my friends (myself included) were married 10+ years ago. I had a really long engagement ( I was very young) and no engagement party. None of my friends did either, it just wasn't a thing in my social circle. DH's cousin had one, but it was really bad; major breaches of etiquette every where.

So, DH and I have been envited to his best friends engagment party on Sunday. Second marriage for the groom, first for the bride. We did not make the groom's first (marriage) engagement party as it was out of town. What is the protocol? Gift? No gift? Card? No card? How exactly do these things go?

Bought a bottle of Veuve Clicquot today to take with. Hope this covers the bases.

Think that sounds perfect :) in Australia we give presents or money in a card for engagements. Because its her first wedding I think it's nice to give something.
