Hi. I hope all the experts here will chime in and let me know what kind of deal this is. Here are the stats -- if it checks out OK, and looks good when I see it later tonight I'm going to pull the trigger. I'm under some time pressure b/c of some outside circumstances.

Also, please just comment on this stone -- I know a lot of people on here favor online vendors but I'm much more comfortable buying in a B&M

EGL Cert (so even if it's an I color I'm ok with that)

Color: G
Clarity: SI-1 (eye clean per owner)
Cut: Ideal
Carat: 2.04
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent

Depth: 61.2%
Table: 56% (edit)
Crown: 15%
Pavilion: 43%
Culet: 0

HCA: 0.9

Price = $16,500

Thanks in advance!

Did you maybe mistype the table? (I hope)

I'm thinking the table should be 56?

Also, are you considering this stone from a vendor or a private party? I ask because you comment that the 'owner' says it's eyeclean, which sounds to me like a private sale. My concern for you in that instance is that you may not have an easy route to return the stone for refund if you aren't happy with it.

If you are buying from a vendor, does the vendor have a refund policy that lets you return the stone for a refund within a reasonable period of time? If he does, it might be worth taking a closer look at the stone.

Are you okay if the clarity goes down as well?

Make sure you know their return policy, so that you can get it appraised at a local appraiser and return it if you don''t like the results!

Thanks -- yes it is 56.

Holy Cow, $16k+??? For an EGL?

Oh my, did the stock market go up to 20,000 today?

That''s with the setting too. You have one for $14,700 on your site

2.04 Carat G-SI1 Round Diamond
Price: $14,668.00

Seems you can possibly get the same stone (?) a bit cheaper online. It''s up to you as to how much more the B&M experience is worth. As for the stone, I would suggest buying it only if there is a good return policy, and then have it looked at by an independant appraiser.

That''s different, but I''d still have it looked at.

That looks like the same stone listed on the other site. Also, it''s only $500 cheaper and mine would have a setting too. The cert on whiteflash is "other" so I''m assuming it''s EGL too

How do the specs look?

also, no return policy - does this scare anyone. if i like the look and the specs are ok, what do you all think?

Honestly it makes me think the vendor is shady and doesn''t stand behind their product personally...

There''s no way you should plop down over $16,000 for something with no return policy. Especially since it has an EGL cert. Did you price out I color I-1 clarity diamonds at other sites? That may be what your left with and you''d have nothing that you could do about it.

Of course the seller is going to tell you it''s eye clean. After they take your money, it''s no risk to them if you disagree.

Thanks so much!

I''m going to pass.

Late to the party here, but I think that''s best. Anytime a jeweler is not willing to stand behind their product, it''s a big red flag.

Good luck in your search!

Good choice on passing up!!
