Well to start with I am 23 years old (almost 24) and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I am extremely blessed in that I have two families due to being put up for adoption at birth and later finding my birth family. I also am engaged to a fantastic boy-man (boy of a man maturity of a small child

I had a pretty good childhood and was raised to be the right proper little lady but they failed miserably.

I was a brat of a teenager who had a real “you can’t tell me to do that” attitude. And as such I left school early and went to work instead. Although my adoptive parents were told that it was mainly cause I was too smart for my classes. I have completed part time studies though after realising that and education can be a good thing.
My love for gems began with my adoptive Grandmother who was the daughter of a wealthy family that married beneath her (my adoptive grandfather was a carpenter before he retired) and although her family lost most of it’s cash in the depression they weren’t as badly hit as some and managed to keep the house and family jewels safe. The jewels are important as the family was originally French and fled the revolution to London and eventually Australia and the jewels have been handed down from oldest daughter to eldest daughter since then. So growing up I got to see these fab jewels every time we went over to visit as they were my AG’s pride and joy. Unfortunately when she passed away a few years ago my AM (adoptive mother) had a lot of the pieces melted down to make new jewellery pieces for herself.
Six years ago at Christmas I went to a friends house for Christmas night drinks and I met my FI. I spoke to him a bit that night thought he was cute but didn’t really think too much about him until seeing him a few more times at my friend’s house. Then he finally asked me out at the beach one day and I accepted to go out to a club with him that night. Now being a bit nervous I drank a bit more than usual and ended up asking him at the door if he was going to “grow some uh-hums and kiss me or what” he did and he actually called me after that and we have been together ever since. He has been there for me through family deaths, finding my birth family (including a brother & sister I never knew I had and finding out that my father committed suicide within a year of my birth), unemployment everything and so I love him even more for it.
We picked the ring out in January 2004 and Future Mr Emeraldgirl was waiting for the right time to propose. We were on holiday at the Whitsunday along the Great Barrier Reef in QLD. One of the things that I mentioned I had wanted to do the last time we were there but we never got to get around to do was to go on a helicopter ride. So we had a look this time we were up there and there was a ride out to a deserted island where you got a picnic lunch and a few hours alone on the island. So we booked it in went down to the airport had our champers while we were waiting for our flight and Peter looked nervous which when I asked him he told me was due to fear of flying in a helicopter. So we got out to the island and had our lunch and as we went for a walk along the beach after lunch he managed to stutter his way through a speech and ask me to marry him which I happily accepted and then we kept a secret from friends and family until we got home a few days later so we had some time to ourselves to enjoy the moment.
