Greetings. I have been lurking for quite some time and I think that PS is an incredible resource. The expert opinions and personal accounts are fantastic! Bravo to all
My question is regarding the specifics of an emerald cut. I am searching for a 1.2-1.3ct as a center stone in an e-ring. I have searched the forum and found a lot of valuable info and insight into the emerald cut. However, my research has left me with many questions. What should I be looking for with respect to the following?
1. Color/Clarity? I am thinking F or G VS1
2. Is L/W ratio a matter of perference or is there an "optimal" ratio?
3. Depth - What is an acceptable range? I have read that less than 65% is preferred.
4. Table? - I read that the table should be between 58-68% Is there an ideal percentage?
5. Girdle Thickness - What is acceptable/ideal?
6. Polish/Symmetry - Is Good acceptable? Should I be searching for Excellent?
7. Crown/Pavilion angle?
I am looking to spend $7000. What characteristics can I compromise (to a degree) and still get a great diamond?
Thanks in advance for any input.
