Since my wedding band is a full diamond eternity, I''ve been thinking of ways to celebrate forthcoming anniversaries without feeling like I''m missing out. My husband has already said that he would be upset if I upgraded my 1.32 carat e-ring, so that''s not an option.

I''ve always had a softspot for emeralds and was wondering if an emerald/diamond eternity band is possible to make. I''ve seen it done with sapphires but wondered -- because I''ve never seen an emerald one -- if the green stone just isn''t durable enough and can only be moulded into a larger emerald-cut shape?

Please help a novice and make me very happy for my 3rd anniversary next spring!

My mother used to have a diamond and emerald eternity band. It was beautiful. For one of her anniversaries she upgraded her solitare diamond engagement ring to one with two saphire sidestones so she changed her eternity band from emeralds to saphires. I still think the emeralds looked nicer though...

I have an emerald and diamond tennis bracelet, and an emerald channel set slide for an omega neckllace, so I think it would be very possible. Maybe post this in the colored stones section, where the colored gems people may chime in.

My mom also had one-- it was shared prong, about 2ctw, and set in 14K yellow gold. I believe it came from Tiffany & Co in the late 1980s.
But I can''t find *any* online! I wonder why?

The Signed Pieces/Facets eternity bands come in sapphire and ruby but no emerald. I think you should contact them to ask about making one with emeralds. They are so pretty!

I found this on ebay (the only thing close I could find quickly): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4982159380&category=92855

ah well, anything is possible, right?

one of the reasons you don''t see emeralds in ''everyday'' rings is because of durability.
emerald has a hardness of about 8 on the moh''s scale. rubies and sapphires are 9, and of course diamonds are 10.
if you are not particularly hard on your rings, or if you plan to only wear it occasionaly, emeralds would certainly fit the bill (and are so very beautiful!!)
hope that little bit of information helps!! best of luck in your search!

Found this delicate one at Solomon Brothers; it''s not a full eternity but it''s lovely.

I would also try www.signedpieces.com. While they may not have one on their website they can make whatever you want and their quality is excellent.

Just another option...

Go to www.christopherdesigns.com

Click on "catalogs" and then the "mini rings" catalog. They have pages and pages of eternity bands, many with diamonds and emeralds mixed.

I love the link that FireGodess posted, they look yummy!! Also the channel set ones may be even safer for emeralds???

I definitely think so...if it were me I would probably look for a channel set band - and if you don''t like the sleek line of the channel set you could do some milgraining or something on the edges like some of those mini bands have. I was under the impression that emeralds can be brittle stones and you definitely wouldn''t want to THWACK a ring that''s got some prong set emeralds hanging out there...

Wowee... I just love those pictures!

My current eternity band is a 3mm bezel-set ring of 15 round brilliants (H, SI1). I love this look but the channel set bands Fire Goddess posted are just scrumptious, too.

Would anyone have idea of cost if, say, the diamonds were round brilliants comparable to those in my eternity band -- again, with a 3mm width? (FYI: My ring size is 3.75.)
