I am very new to this sight and have found tons of helpful information! WOW! Looking for some opinions on purchasing a pre owned emerald cut diamond ring. Since this is my first diamond purchase and probably my last, I wanted to get the most bang for my buck.

GIA report

3.96 carat emerald cut
color G
clarity VS1
total depth 61.3%
table size 74%
girdle extremely thin to slightly thick
cutlet very small
polish and symmetry good
fluorescence none

This person is asking 7000.00. It does come in a setting but nothing fancy.

Any advice would be so helpful. Thanks

Either something is off with your numbers or that is the deal of the century. Is it a single stone at almost 4 carats???

Yeah. That's more than Fishy. Take it to a GOOD appraiser and ask them if it is a real diamond. And ask them if it matches the certificate. If it does, buy it. Even if you resell it or recut it for a bit better performance still the deal of the century as DS said.

Does it come with a GIA report or an appraisal by a GIA gemologist? It does sound too good to be true, but if you have it appraised and it comes back that it's a real diamond, I would grab it up quick and then send it for recutting!

May not even need a recut. I'm excited to see how this turns out.

A 4 carat for $7,000?! Sounds waaaaay too good to be true unfortunately.

That would be great! =) =) I was thinking that with the large table and shallow depth, small culet, that it could possibly be an old cut? I'd love to see pictures!!
