Embossing?

I really want to emboss our invites (DIY, of course). I have a basic desktop embosser (Ideal Model M) but I have no clue where to find custom plates. Has anyone done this or is doing this? Where can I find plates - is there a standard size for all embossers? The one I have, the plate is only about two inches in diameter. Any help with this would be fantastic!
