Anyone heard of Ellissi jewellers in Mlebourne, Australia?

Thankyou!

Hi Bugaboo

I found them on their website. I have been emailing back and forth on quotes for a ring I am looking to have made. The jeweller who contacted me seems very nice. He has responded very quickly to my emails, answered all questions, is very up to date and knows his rocks "A bit like our lovely Lorelei here on ps"

I found their prices to be quiet fair and reasonable when comparing to some of the others too.

I am going to into the city one day next week to view some diamonds for comparison with other jewellers so I will keep you updated. Are you in Melbourne?

Hello there Monnyjay

Thankyou for your reply!

I found them in a magazine advert and had come accross their website. Yes I agree Ian seems fantastic, he really does know his rocks from how he answers my questions. I am looking at getting an engagement ring made, having little success in Sydney - the jeweller I was working with couldnt supply a diamond I was happy with - eg it had to be E-F, VS2, GIA minimum..........they kept emailing G/SI1-2,non-GIA, at very high prices!!!!. All my work will be via telephone and email. Their prices seem consistent, the diamonds I am looking at are hearts and arrows.

Keep me updated please in how you go - I will too as I want to get something rolling in the next week!

P.S I LOVE Lorelei!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could pay her a buyers fee to get this damn engagement ring organised and completed for me!!! Last year I would have just rocked up into a shop and just bought the biggest diamond for my budget............but since discovering PS I am now very very particular on colour, clarity, cut, using Holloway Cut Analysis etc enough to send any diamond merchant mad!!! Actually, it is consuming my life, I just want the best for my money now!!!

Hi Bugaboo, seeing you are in Sydney I would have thought you would have no trouble finding the perfect diamond, they is quiet a lot of wholesalers/jewellers there.

I know what you mean about wanting quality, I almost bought a diamond (quiet large before being educated) could have been a disaster but was avoided. As with we girls I think the bigger the better before we knew what to look for. I found a jeweller (Alldiamonds/Allgems in Elsternwick Melbourne), he sourced an ideal cut for me. I remember looking at the list and wanting one that had bigger dimensions, poor guy he couldn''t convince me that the 5mm difference was nothing because the other one was an excellent cut! No I know that cut makes all the difference above all and can actually make the diamond appear larger. He also had an idealscope which I had never seen before, so was able to see all the hearts and arrows.

The only issue I have with it is it is too small now (I WANT BIGGER

). Unfortunately, this jeweller does not upgrade. Maybe you could give him a try his name is Perry, he has a huge list on his website with certified GIA/AGS etc. The only issue with this one is he is always busy and sometimes grumpy but he is a lovely guy. So if you know what you want to have made and size stone you are sourcing should be okay. Oops did I say that outloud???? I must admit at the time I was tossing up between a princess and a rb, probably drove him crazy with my indecisiveness, but it''s a lot of money you are parting with.

We can all relate, this diamond thing becomes an obsession and this website makes it worse with all the beautiful rings to drool over. Was Ian able to help you at all? Will keep updated on progress. By the way, what type of diamond are you looking for?

HI there Monnyjay!

Im not actually in Sydney - 400km away!! Went for a w/end to look at engagement rings and diamonds.........most stores had nothing great - even cerrone, hardy bros, gs goldshops all the big names. I did work with a jeweller in Sydney the last 3 weeks, but they cannot seem to get the stones of my specs . (and again having trouble getting the stock from merchants)

I am after a 1.3-1.5ct round brillant. Every jeweller I spoke to said they were not carrying much stock over 1ct plus, as they are not moving them and too expensive to keep in workshop sitting around. Alot of merchants etc have very limited supplies as overseas do not have the supply either of larger stones due to a number of cutters etc cutting less and less due to the economic crisis, so they do not have the excess to send to other countries like Australia....dont know how true this is, thats the story quite a few told me!

I spoke with Ian today, he seems fantastic, and of great help. He had a good selection for me based on my criteria, stones are hearts and arrow, sent the pics, certs and images, and what I like about him is the promptness of replying to my emails. Nothing worse than having to chase up someone.

I will go and look at the website of your grumpy overworked man now!

Cheers
