While looking at settings on GOG''s website, I browsed through their diamonds and discovered the "Eighternity" and "Star129" diamonds. Are these types of diamonds a bad idea? I recently saw a similar type of diamond at a local jeweler and was amazed at how sparkly it was, however it was a 1.36 carat and looked the same size as the 1 carat RB I was also looking at. Seemed very deep.. Opinions?

Some love them, others don't. To me, they look better in larger sizes; they look too busy in smaller sized stones. There is also a slight premium for the stones as they are branded cuts. A quick look at GOG's 8ternity and Star128 shows that the depth % to be in line with other well cut H&A RBs (very low 60s) so they should measure and look the same size. I have no idea why it would look smaller to you.

Thanks Chrono-

I think I agree after looking at more pictures that they may be a little too busy in smaller sizes, which is probably what I will be getting. The one I saw in person was not the brands mentioned here, just a local store''s take on extra facets.. wasn''t too great :) I think I''ll stick with a nice AGS0 RB.

2ct or so they can look great but I dont care for them in the 1ct size.
If someone likes the princess and radiant look and likes a round then they are it.
