EGL vs GIA/AGS

I am in the market for a 1 - 1.25 carat stone D-F and VS2 or better. I realize from my research here on PS that GIA/AGS are the better labs when compared to EGL. However, my question is this: Could I buy a "D" VS1 stone rated by EGL and save compared to an "F" VS2 from GIA/AGS? I know that from a money standpoint I could save. I realize that the quality of the EGL may be graded softly, but would it be as good as a lower grade by a better lab?

Any have a high grade EGL as the result of this type of situation?

it''s possible but keep in mind, the better cuts are sent to the better labs as well. a well cut diamond looks a million times better than a mediocre cut. if you want a nice diamond, focus on getting a good cut and worry about color and clarity as a secondary criteria.
of course, if you just want the cheapest diamond possible, forget the grading report and get an uncertified bargain.
