HI,
i found a good diamond .. 0.88 carat round, H, VS2 for $3000 but the report is EGL. Should i consider this stone further and ask for report or should i just pass it since it is not certified by GIA or AGS?
thanks!

I would go GIA or AGS, but post the numbers and see what the experts think of your stone?

I would personally go for GIA or AGS if possible but as April says if you wish, go ahead and post all the details and we will take a look for you.

It was on White flash site. I do not have numbers yet... i think i will have to ask them. below is the link: But i think depth is more than it should be (my guess!)

Here is another one just found (is there a problem with crown angle in this one?):

Planning to end this search by coming week...pls bear with me - i will be posting a few more till i am able to finalize.

Ok, Whiteflash do not typically stock EGL graded diamonds, they would have to call it in for you, also they don't normally offer upgrade policies on EGL graded stones. It is a bit deep also and is facing up more like a 0.80ct diamond which you don't want.

The Brian Gavin diamond has potential certainly.

Thanks, i will keep Brian Gavin and continue my search for a few more options.
I was thinking till now that crown height (as in Brian Gavin of 33.5 is less and we should look for 34-35 crown height) attaching GIA report which has angles / % of Brian Gavin diamond

Nothing wrong with a crown angle of 33.5 degrees. The proportion of that stone looks good.

Have you looked at James Allen? If you want a non H&A or want to save money and not buy a branded cut, then I would go for JA. In my mind, BGD and WF specialize in their branded lines of top diamonds. If you want to work with those vendors, then I personally would stick with those lines since they will offer you excellent policies (buyback, tradeup). JA has lots of diamonds in stock like the virtual stones listed on vendor''s websites, and the information is already available so you don''t need to call them in.

I have heard that EGL can quite liberal with there grading. If you do get a EGL graded stone, before you commit to the purchase make sure that you have an independent appraiser check the diamond out.

The crown angle is fine and perfectly acceptable so nothing to worry about, images would be the next step for this stone which BG should be able to provide.
