You can search for similar stats using this tool. I keyed in 1.08 E SI1 and found EGL certed stones ranging from $3851 - $5890. If you''re buying it from a brick and mortar store the costs tend to be higher than online pricing, but to me it still seems a bit expensive for an EGL certed stone. The GIA certed stones in the same search came back ranging from $5006 - $5983. I personally trust the GIA grading standards more than EGL, but that''s not to say EGL hasn''t certified some lovely stones as well. Just be prudent in your research and arm yourself with as much information as possible before making a choice.

I agree with Garry that you should consult an independent appraiser in order to ascertain if it''s a ''good deal'' or not.
