EGL, EGL USA, GIA?

Ok, I have heard that EGL is not so strick in their grading as GIA. What about the difference between EGL International and EGL USA? Is one better than the other?

I was just at my appraisers last week and asked him the same question. His response was, "EGL USA is often one grade off. The other EGL''s are all over the board".

EGL USA gets a reasonably good reputation on this board. EGL otherwise...as Borat says...not so much.

Choices in order of preference...AGS, GIA, EGL USA.

Many says...if not among those three...pass.

From what I have read, EGL USA has made some great strides , it''s a much better lab than it used to be. Any other EGL lab I wouldn''t bother with. My preference is like Ira''s. AGS, GIA then EGL USA.

I''d only consider GIA, then AGS, that''s just my personal preference. That said, I wouldn''t consider anything from any EGL and here''s why. I understand that the general consensus is that EGL USA is "better" than the other EGL''s, yet still not as strict as GIA or AGS. My issue is if EGL USA cannot control the quality of it''s other entities then it''s a lab that I cannot trust. Period.

In my experiance.GIA and AGS are the best.Then EGL USA....Not impressed with others.
