Effects of Polished Girdle on Diamond Color

Anyone know what the effects are of polishing the girdle on diamond color is? I''ve been hearing alot of differing opinions and conjectures of things. Can anyone point me in the right direction about this? Thx

hasn''t been proven one way or the other but some cutters believe that not faceting a near colorless stones girdle lightens the face up color.
