As gridle usually has a range, even if it''s the usually recommended think to slightly thick, is there any effect on how huge a range can be tolerated in order not to have a negative impact to the beauty of the stone? For example, is a range of 1.4% - 4.1% good?

That is thin to slightly thick, in good range. Here is a tutorial on girdles which you might find helpful.

Obviously you don't want a girdle which is too thin or too thick as it is best to avoid extremes as this can waste weight or cause a potential durability issue. Usually with a top cut diamond the girdle will be well within desirable range. However in the case of a girdle which might be graded very thin it is best to have an expert check in case it is a potential durability issue - in some cases not if the very thin part is in the microns and in a non vulnerable area. A trusted vendor who can inspect the stone or an appraiser is invaluable in these cases.

As for impacting beauty, it is best to look at the whole picture, the overall proportions of a diamond and consider everything together in order to pick the best looking diamond you can.

Strange, according to http://diamonds.pricescope.com/agsideal.asp, 1.4% is under ex/very thin?
