So, lucky me :naughty: , I met the man who is the ONE a while back. We've been in the ring-shopping process for a few months now, and I have looked at probably about 30 ovals in person. Up until tonight, none was quite right... Either inclusions my sharp eye could pick out, just a bit too much color, a little too small, or (most frequently...) too prominent of a bowtie...
Well, , tonight I met the stone that is the ONE, to go with my perfect man! It is a GIA 1.00 ct G SI1 (eye clean from every angle, even up close, even to my picky eyes) oval, excellent cut. It's proportions are perfect, it is so white and sparkly, and lively and full of fire. Best yet, there is NO discernable bowtie, not in any light, not from any angle. This stone is AMAAAZING, and I cannot wait to wear it every day!
The only hang-up I have is that it's about $500 more than we wanted to spend... My setting will be very inexpensive though, and the whole thing will come in much less than a different ring he almost bought me. So it shouldn't be a deal breaker. We are going tomorrow morning to look at it together, and I really hope he makes it mine!
Sorry, I don't have any pictures or links to the cert or anything fun like that yet, but I am just so excited that I really wanted to share with people I know will appreciate what an awesome feeling this is! :appl:

I had been frustrated earlier today, because I went to a different store that had also brought in new stones for us that would hopefully meet what we were looking for. Well, when I looked at them their bowties were so displeasing to me, I was really bummed. I'm not bummed now though!

That's so exciting! :appl: I hope he picks it, and I hope you can snap a few picturess of it to show us. Ther's something so magical about finding "the one". I can remember my "OMG that's my stone" moment too, it can be a bit overwhelming. Dust!

Woot! Good job on finding The Ones (man and stone). :) Can't wait to see pics.

I love ovals and I can't wait to see this one! YAHOOOO for finding THE stone.

oh my gosh, I just can't stop thinking about it! I will try to snap a few iphone pics tomorrow though I'm not sure how well they will turn out. It is just so breathtaking, I really haven't even seen a picture of an oval I love as much as this one (except recently there was a ring posted on here with an antique-cut oval stone, and that stone also looks absolutely gorgeous - I'm sure you probably know which one I'm talking about). One of the best things - even though this stone is a little more than we wanted to spend, of the three new stones they showed me tonight it was the least expensive, and by FAR the most beautiful! (plus, it really won't break the bank)

Very exciting!!! :appl: Can't wait to see it!

squeeeee!!! so exciting! try to snap a couple photos tomorrow! So excited for you!!!

Did you see the oval that was posted in the new girl's intro thread in LIW?!?!? It's fan-freaking-tasting!

oh wow, I just did! That is quite the stone and quite the ring. The stone I am in love with looks similar, though it is slightly smaller (and lower in color, but I can't really tell, honestly) - both full of life and no ugly dark streak. That setting is blingtastic too! I'm a pretty simple girl so I'm going with a very clean-line bezel setting, no side stones, oval set east-west. But if vintage were what I was going for, that ring would be my lust!

Can't wait to see it! I had a very tough decision between vintage-inspired or sleek, modern. Bezel, semi-bezel or tension setting. I love the look and practicality.

My guy was in love with filigree and engraving, so I went for a thick (4mm) unplated white gold band with engraving, milgrain and a filigree cathedral.

I will live vicariously through your fabulous modern setting!!

I'm going for something kind of sleek, simple, graceful, and timeless. Not "traditional" in the sense of a Tiffany solitaire, but not something too modern either. I am so excited! BF said I can have the diamond I want, and we're going to buy it this morning :appl: :appl: :appl:
I will try to take some pictures and post them!!!

Congratulations :appl: Your happiness really shines through your posts. The stone sounds gorgeous, I can't wait for pics.

Another oval lover...cant wait for some pictures!!!

I DID meet my stone yesterday! We put a deposit on it to hold it for 30 days while we sort out some details with the setting, but this is the one :) Think I'm going to go with an unplated 14k wg setting instead of platinum now to stay within budget. We looked at "in-real-life" examples of each this morning, and we both loved the creamy warmness of the wg. I didn't want to bother with plating, and because I use my hands a LOT at work, wg is actually probably a better choice than platinum for me :)

Anyway, here are some pictures! They're just bad ones taken with my phone really quickly, they don't nearly do the stone justice, but you get the idea

Thank you!! I think so too - I cant wait to wear it every day for the rest of my life - it's going to be distracting!

oh wow that is a beautiful oval :) i can't wait to see the finished ring!

What a beauty of an oval!

OMG. It's GORGEOUS! I am absolutely in love with it and can't wait to see it set! Congrats!

It is gorgeous! I think you certainly found a good one as I love the shape, it is not too long and it is so perfect on your finger..
I would always prefer WG than platinum.. That is me..

That is one stunning stone, love the east west design plans too :))

It's a beauty  The proportions are perfect on your hand, too. You must be over the moon!

aw, thank you guys so much! It means a LOT to me that some of the web's most picky diamond conniseurs think this stone is beautiful :naughty: I cannot stop thinking about it - I'm really happy I have the pictures on my phone to keep looking at! I will put up links to the cert and all that at some point, and OF COURSE pictures of the finished ring.
It was my BF's idea to set the stone E-W, which means a lot to me... My finger is size 9, but fairly long. When I held it to my finger N-S my fingers still looked wide and long, but E-W seems to make them look a little narrower (not easy to see in the picture) and still long. It's really special to me that he made that major contribution to the design, because I've pretty much swiped the stone choice and setting design from him - he doesn't really mind, but still, I'm happy that the most striking feature of the setting will have been his idea. I love him so much  (and now I'm going to go throw up, for having been so sappy...)

Looks like you made an excellent choice. Thats a beautiful looking stone and looks proportionately perfect for your finger :)
Enjoy and congrats to you both !

Your oval is beautifully cut and it looks great on your hand, congrats!!
