Interesting article about Edith Wilson and how she "ran the Oval Office for 17 months." I never knew this! Mr. Wilson's #2 guy didn't want to take over because he was afraid of being assassinated.

I knew they had very much downplayed how truly impaired Wilson was, but unaware of how much of the actual work was taken up by his wife. Good piece, thanks for sharing it.

I do have to say though, that my other readings (tangentially) on Wilson, I was most struck by what an authoritarian he became in extremis. The Sedition Act of 1918, was a scary scary piece of legislation. How it played out in the populace was even scarier.
