Yes,its again a Ebay seller.I ordered and made payment for a hair clip(very cheap thing, but attractive)nearly one month ago, after several messages inquiring why I have not received it yet,I finally got it delivered yesterday.I left the feedback as neutral as I was too much harrased.
Today,a guy called me in harsh tone giving threat to revert the feed back to positive-yes I did it.Then,I sent a email to Ebay customer care, from my own Email address:
Respected Ebay management person/administration,
I bought an item no.xxxxxxxxxxxx from your Ebay "power seller" xxxxxxxx, which he delivered me long time(nearly 3weeks)after the order and payment, that too, after writing several messages to him and mentioning the proof that actual transaction has been made.
I think,I have the right to mark this item feedback as "Neutral".
I marked it neutral mentioning the product is ok,description and everything are accurate except the shipping was delayed( 0n 22/07/09).
Today, the man called me on one of my cell phone(xxxxxxxxxxxx) at 12:15PM (two calls were made, one call was ended probably due to some network problem)from phone number xxxxxxxxxxx. He spoked in very rough and abusive language and tone and said that he is sending a request to my Ebay account message inbox and forced me to revise it to positive.Under threat,I had to do it.
I am a respected person of the society and I have not been harrased in this way after buying some products from any online shop.
Yes,I got afraid,I made contact with online chat helpline of Ebay (still then I was so afraid that I said them I will not complain against the seller, just inform Ebay about the incidence) who gave your email address.
I am still afraid of the seller for such prank calls or threat calls or bodily harm for reporting the case against him,as my phone number, home address all are known to him.
So,this is the way,Ebay sellers become-"power sellers"?
Please take the proper steps against him.
Thanking you,
yours faithfully
Dr.XXXXXXXXXX

Waiting for Ebay's response

Scary. How do the sellers get hold of your personal details? I thought these were protected. No?

omg that''s horrible

Ruby,
This is especially disconcerting. I would be very concerned about how this seller has all your information; I thought only PayPal has this information and is supposedly very safe? Or does the vendor have it because he needs to mail the item to you? In any case, please be hyper aware of your surroundings. It never hurts to be extra cautious in your daily activities until this is settled.

I thought that too-probably they can see our(buyer)details in the "devivery to" address.

agreed!

how horrible ruby! i hope it gets resolved for you.

Ebay has not sent any message still.

I didn''t now you could alter feedback.

"He spoked in very rough and abusive language and tone and said that he is sending a request to my Ebay account message inbox and forced me to revise it to positive.Under threat,I had to do it."

Ruby, what precisely did he threaten you with? It''s a little scary that he has your personal info. no matter what, but if he made outright threats, that could raise it to the level of an actual criminal offense.

2nd - what did he threaten you with? Was it that he was going to give you negative feedback or what is something that actually could be serious?

Instead of changing the feedback to positive, you either should have turned it to negative - explaining the threat - or just removed any form of feedback.

Wow!!

I am so sorry you are going through this. I didn''t know sellers had access to phone numbers?

They have your name and address -- the phone number is just a google or two away.

Ruby -- how did you manage to change ebay feedback that you had already left? I thought it was impossible to do that.

Hello XXXXXX,

Thank you for letting us know of this incidence. My name is Maureen and
I appreciate the opportunity to assist you regarding your report.

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced this in our community. We
always welcome reports coming from our valued members to help ensure the
integrity on the eBay trading community. And every information that is
being sent in is treated with confidentiality. We take action if and
when the evidences show that the member has indeed violated eBay rules.

Please be assured that your complaint has been noted and we will
investigate your seller and take appropriate action upon the completion
of our investigation. Such action may include issuing a warning to the
seller, temporarily or indefinitely suspending the seller''s account or,
terminating the seller''s membership with eBay. Due to eBay''s Privacy
Policy, we cannot provide you with information regarding the details of
this investigation or the seller''s account. This policy is for the
protection of all eBay members.

Also, please know that eBay does not suspend an account without any
valid reason so you don''t have to worry about this matter. In the event
that the seller continues with this act and threatens you through email
or through eBay forwarding system. Please be advised to send us a copy
of any email communication you had with him/her along with it''s full
headers for us to enable a more complete investigation of this
situation,

Headers are required as they allow me to trace the path of the email
from where it originated to your email address and determine the true
identity of the sender. Please make certain that you send the headers
from the original email and not from a follow-up email.

You can reply to this message or forward the message you received to
[email protected]. If possible, please send the message in the text of an
email rather than as an attachment.

A header will look like a string of ''nonsense'' characters, similar to
the example I have pasted for you below. You can often find this by
using the ''properties'' or ''option'' function of your email program.

RUBY!! OMG! That''s HORRENDOUS. I would have been terrified too. AND LIVID. But terrified. Your CELL PHONE and he threatened you??? And over a well deserved NEUTRAL feedback, not even a negative. I AM SO SORRY HONEY. Is there anyway you can call your cell company and have the number blocked? ((HUGE HUGS)).

It is the Encyclopedia like Email sent by Ebay to me for the complain.
If you have enough time,go through it,you will be sure, that personel has NOT read my complain with concentration. My complain was TREATS WERE GIVEN OVER MOBILE PHONE,but they said the process HOW TO TRACE AN EMAIL SENDER FROM HEADER.
No,he has not phoned me/emailed me again,I think he is happy with the revised feedback-definitely that was his target. He spoked in his motherlanguage Hindi with lots of Urdu words,I tried to make him to speak English-he did not.I think,he can write, read or understand some basic English, but can not speak fluently in English(English is either First Language or Second language in India at basic school level,Higher studies, are all English based and professional courses generally follows US or UK syllabus model-just to give an Idea to you)
His gross subject of his speech was"revise your feedback to positive right now,i am sending you a message to your Ebay account, otherwise, what will happen is not good for you-do not waste your life for just 50$,I want to do business,as i have done till date".
Friends,I think I am free from that seller for now, but,as a reputed citizen,it is somewhat my duty is to aware you about such incident.I have no personal anger/dispute with Ebay directly. But,next time you must keep my experience at back of your mind, while shopping.
Yes,I would go to inform the Police,if he disturbs me again.

Yes dear Gypsy,I can do that readily. But he can call from another number/booth/yahoo like web based calling service.I can even change my number for a few bucks(in India,SIMs and Sets are sold largely separately).Thats not the way one can escape Gypsy.I have shown you,how our personal data are collected!Transaction through paypal is more dangerous,I think-its just a password distance to steal our money.

@Chrono,you can see, how nice my luck is going this year?

I know that honey. I do. I was just worried for you.

Are wire transfers safer, I wonder? (Not that I'd wire an ebay seller). Paypal is scary, it is one password away (remind me to change that password tomorrow). And I've recently had, what I consider a disheartening experience with them.

And I too have had ebay to absolutely nothing when someone was bothering me a few years back when I bought something.

I often wonder how different peoples reactions would be if they could see the impact of their actions in real life. Would they still yell obscenities at you if you were standing in front of them? I don't think so, or at least not as often. The emotional distance and freedom of that distance offers is not good. We aren't people to them. We're a feedback point on thier precious ebay score. And that means more to them than the person behind the feedback. It's sad and like I said, frightening. And I'm so glad you shared.

BTW... I'm not sure... but I think in some of that 'return path' stuff the numbers listed might be an IP address. Which might not be something you want to post... but I'm completely ignorant when it comes to stuff like that. Just know it makes me nervous.

I love your response Gypsy, love that great emotion behind, which made you to post the reply.
Its only the public non profit forums(like this forum) where "human" can be found-because,we are just writing and gossiping, exchanging emotions, facts from various parts of the world-thats where the wired connection (read internet) wons.
But,when you enter the world of business it is the safest place for the criminals,a criminal can change his identity,i.p. address, thief passwords very easily.
It is second time I faced problem with Ebay purchase, other one was also purchased at the same time,I have already posted somewhere the fact(probably in AmGuy''s thread)-it was bad too.
But,if we purchase directly from company/reputed showroom online shop,I think, these type of incidence will not happen.
Some People, thinks all the day long, how to make money by the easiest way possible, forgetting the basic moral science-internet has been a boon to them.
Yes,Gypsy, change the password of your Paypal regularly, use loooong password possible.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!

That is insane!!!!! I am so sorry some jerk is doing this to you.. I would be so completely freaked out!!! People have no manners and this guy should be stopped from ebay... I wonder how many other people are too scared to come forward. I admire that you did.

ahhh!! people!!!!!!!!!!!!1

It was Ebays answer after getting my second email, emphasizing that the problem was threat over phone, not by email:

Hello XXXXXXXXXX,

Thank you for writing back to us regarding your report about member "".
My name is Syrra and please allow me the opportunity to assist you
further.

I''m sorry to hear about the unpleasant call you''ve received. I
understand how unsettling this type of experience can be.

Unfortunately, even if this person got hold of your contact details via
eBay, we can''t investigate telephone calls as we don''t have access to
telephone network records. At this time, I suggest that you report the
caller to your telephone service provider.

Please be assured that your complaint has been noted and we will
investigate your seller and take appropriate action upon the completion
of our investigation. Violations of eBay policies may result in a range
of actions, including a warning, temporary or indefinite suspension, or
account termination. For the protection of all members, eBay can''t
provide details on any individual investigation or account.

I appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Regards,

Syrra S.

Check it out my answer to their Email:

Respected person,
I know and I can understand the fact that You can not trace my phone call history details. But,please do not try to push the ball to my court. As a XXXXXX{edited by me},I know some laws.It is not my responsibility to proove that he called me,because,it is not The Court of Law-it is a customer care.If you had no responsibility regarding such litigations or providing buyers safety, there would no customer care existed. It is your responsibility to keep the buyers safe. Then why you ask for our mobile numbers during registration? Why my personal mobile number was leaked to him?
You know the process of obtaining a full caller details is time spending and money spending process.First of all,to obtain the detail,I have to file an F.I.R against him and Ebay. Then,I have to set a court case against both. Will you bear the cost of loss of my money and time(most important for me and my {edited by me:read clients})for that process?
And for your kind information, that seller even did not provided me any kind of invoice/cash-memo.
Straight forward, just write me,"Sorry,Ebay customer care can not help you this time".
What I can do legally, left it to me.
Thank you for your poor support.
XXXXXXX(my name)

Ebay''s customer service, esp. regarding threats that are not directly through Ebay messages, is not helpful at all as I''ve also experienced.
