I bid on, and won, a 2ct 5 stone 1/2 eternity band from this ebay seller. I was told it was a close out band they purchased from a jeweler that went out of business. So i asked them to re-size it (6.5 to a 7) and they told me it would be a custom-made ring. I'm so confused - why is it custom made when it's allegedly the one in the photo.

I was assured the diamond cut/clarity/color would be the same as described in the listing, but still, i'm nervous.

I did a search on this seller, and not a whole lot came up, except that they have a few different accounts, and apparently are also a pawn shop.

Should i cancel this order and get my $1700 back?

I would write to them and ask what they mean about it being custom. Do you have a link to the ring? It might help for people here to use their "radar" to tell if it's a good vendor. And what is the return policy? Can't hurt to get it and have it looked at locally if you can then send it back. Also there is eBay protection if the ring is not as stated in the description.

What is their feedback rating? Is it close to 100 percent? How many sales ?

It's not custom made but they are saying basically that once you customize it (sizing) you can't return it. I would not have them size it. I would want to see it and check it out first and take it to my jeweler for sizing. I have had an experience with them that was not positive. I did not agree with their definition of eye cleanliness. Good luck.

What happened with you and them? i'd love to know more. I emailed them to make sure i can still return it if it's not as listed in their description when i get it. i'm waiting to hear back.

I have purchased from them. Yes, their prices are good, but their opinions of their merchandise is not always accurate. The diamond I purchased from them was not accurate as to size or clarity as determined by a 3rd party independent appraiser. Also, their customer service can leave a lot to be desired. Very snippy on the phone, and uninformed through email, imo. Not sure about now, but in the past, you had to get an appraisal before you could return an item.

What other accounts on ebay do they have? If you are talking about Adina, no they are not related as I once asked them.

Edited to add: I remember another post a while back about someone trying to purchase an OEC from them. They were given the runaround. If I remember correctly, it was something about them agreeing to send it to GIA or EGL for appraisal but never actually sent it and left them hanging.

I purchased an item that had a diamond listed as VS in clarity and described as completely eye clean when questioned specifically. Diamond was obviously included which was easily seen by the naked eye. It was more like SI2-I1, I'd say. Not the worst I've seen but certainly not eye clean. Typical inflation of specs often encountered with eBay purchases.

+1

If customizing it by having it resized makes it non-returnable then have it sent as is so that you can see it. If you need it
resized then have it done locally. Resizing doesnt usually cost that much in my neck of the woods. I would hate for it not
to be returnable if you didnt like the diamonds. Eye-clean and colors can be very subjective.

Update -

the ring came, and it's very pretty. However, the diamonds were supposed to he an H and are actually an M. You can see the yellow when in side view, but from face up at least they appear whiter. The gold ring is unstamped, which my jeweler said is extremely illegal. The setting itself was done very sloppy. The prongs between all the diamonds are all misshapen, bulbous (or small depending) and crooked.

My jeweler said i got what i paid for. It was not a $6,000 ring i got for $1,600 or anything like that. It was a ring made in China, worth what i paid. The whole "these diamonds/this ring is from a liquidation", etc., that they write about is clearly a lie, a salespitch.

So now the question is - do i keep it (it is a lot of diamond for a little bit of money); do i ask them to re-set it so at least it looks more pleasing; or do i return it altogether and find something else.

Was the clarity at least accurate? Ring is poorly constructed and the diamonds are 5 grades lower in color. Does not sound like you got what you paid for. If you read my post above, I had a similar experience with them, and I have noticed that their feedback has been slipping.

JMO, I would return it. I have seen other 2 carat bands on ebay that look much nicer for similar price points.

Guess I was one of the lucky ones in dealing with them. I ordered my dream ring from them last December and because I'm in Canada told me it would take 6-8 weeks for bank draft to clear it was a long wait. Ring arrived on Feb. 5 it is gorgeous and the specs were accurate Had it appraised by a local jeweler that sized it for me here only thing off was color they sold it as an I he said it was closer to an H-I . If you have to communicate with them I suggest to call and ask to speak with Scott, cause yeah Barbara can be snippy lol.
Good luck with whatever you decide it is a pretty ring.

OP, I'd send it back... listed as H, but actually M color AND wonky, unstamped setting??!! :nono: Nope, I'd return it. ASAP. ::)

Hi!
I know this is a totally "out there" comment but the Ebay pictures from that seller always makes me laugh.
That creepy rubber hand they use?? Hilarious!
Good luck to you whatever you decide to do with the ring. :wavey:

No question. I would absolutely return it. I refuse to reward dishonesty with my $.

It's not a very attractive ring. I'd return it and get your money back.
