Hi all!

I'm a lurker and have really enjoyed and gotten a lot out of the site and discussions. There are so many knowledgeable people here and everyone is so kind and willing to share what they know :appl:

Anyways, I'm *thinking* of ordering a ring off ebay but am wondering if anyone has had any experience dealing with a seller by the name of "blueapplediamonds". If anyone has any comments about this seller, I'd really appreciate hearing it!!

Thanks again,

Kelly

Someone just posted a diamond ring from them off ebay and I thought the listing had red flags. The item was priced too low to be as it was represented. I would advise against it based on that one listing. What's too good to be true generally turns out fairly badly.

In addition, they use the same ring pictures for multiple items. The picture is NOT the exact item you would receive!

There were indeed numerous red flags associated with the recent posting concerning this eBay seller.

So, I will say this quite simply: Don’t purchase a diamond from that individual. Period.

Instead, research diamonds from reputable sellers such as JamesAllen.com, BlueNile.com, WhiteFlash.com, BrianGavinDiamonds.com, GoodOldGold.com, and others like them.

And instead of buying a large diamond of low quality (and there are a lot of low quality diamonds on eBay), consider a smaller one of higher quality. You will be happier with your purchase.

So, stick with reputable sellers and quality diamonds and you can’t go wrong!

Despite the fact that I have bought from ebay several times, I agree with this. Buying from ebay is hazardous and fraught with potential land mines. Unless you are skilled to know exactly what to look for and have a good number of people to help you with second opinions-- it's not something I recommend. And ABSOLUTELY not with this seller.

IF you REALLY want to buy from ebay, there are a FEW people on this board who can find listings worth looking at. And I do consider myself one of them. But even I STILL had a transaction just over a month ago with a seller who was dishonest and I had to escalate the transaction to Paypal to get my money back. It was very stressful and unpleasant.

Why? Because despite all that you still need one thing on ebay: LUCK. If you stick to a trusted and good vendor you don't need luck, you can rely on years of reputation and integrity.

You had the smarts to post on here before doing anything irrevocable, so you are already on the right path.

Do a search on "all items" and you will see the same pictures over and over again. In fact, if you do a search on their neutrals and negatives, you will see the same comment repeated that what you see is not what you get. If you want to go the ebay route, there are better sellers out there.

Thanks everyone for your very helpful replies.

After reading these I will follow my gut instinct and avoid buyign anything of significant value from Ebay. I had considered buying from bluenile and actually contacted them about doing a custom ring to recreate my wedding band I lost some time ago. I decided I would probably go elsewhere when bluenile declined to recreate my ring for me and the fellow I was dealing with went so far as to describe my ring as a "frankenstein ring" :(sad Seriously.

Anyways, would IDJewelryOnline.com fit within the "acceptable" online retailer category??

Thanks again :)

Yes, many people here have been pleased with ID jewelry. They have good prices.

(And WOW to the comment from BN!!! But really, you don't order custom anything from them...just their stock items.)

many PSers have bought from ID Jewelry before...I'm sure if you search you will find lots of reviews. I would call them and mention you are on PS

Definitely don't just order from idjewelryonline. You need to call them and tell them that you're from PS. Yeukitel understands that most PSers have higher standards than the general public and will make recommendation accordingly.

ID doesn't do custom settings. So you can buy your stone from them. But if you are looking for a vendor that can recreate something for you (within copyright restrictions) Engagement Rings Direct and Brian Gavin Diamonds are a better bet.

While long overdue, I wanted to thank you all for your very helpful comments. I am pursuing creating a 3-stone ring and hope to have pictures to post in the bling section of the forum very soon :appl:

That is great! :appl: We will look forward to seeing it!
