Can anyone tell me which they think is better:

an Ideal cut, E color, VS2

or

an Ideal cut, F color, VS1??

(Both are approx the same size, ~2.4 carats)

thanks!

I would go F-VS1, but that is soooo personal...

i went with F, VS2 (that way didnt have to worry so much about coloring or clarity concerns) without spending too much money for somehting only visible under a microscope by a gemologist!

also, i kind of stepped out of the box on ideal cut....id try to find something close but if you get something ideal you are going to pay more.....i think ideal cut really only matters with rounds. what are you buying?

just my thoughts.

E VS2 here.

Well I'm no expert but with specs that close I'd say the cut is the most important factor. Do you have the table, depth, pavilion and crown numbers? have you run it through the HCA? Are they GIA or AGS stones....we need more info to give you more advice....

Personally I'd go with higher clarity.

To be honest, I don''t think you''re going to notice any difference at all in either color or clarity.

Have you seen them both in person? I''m assuming the VS2 is completely eye-clean by your standards? Can you see any difference in color between E and F?

If I had to choose one, I''d probably go for the E, but if you laid them side by side and asked me to choose the E/VS2 or F/VS1, I''m not so sure I could (and I''m color sensitive).

Thanks for the responses. Here are more specs as requested:

#1:
ASGL, round cut
E
VS2
Depth: 61.4%
Table: 56.0%
Polish and Symmetry: Ideal

#2:
GIA, round cut
F
VS1
Depth: 60.7%
Table: 58.0%
Polish and Symmetry: Excellent

Not enough! Do you have the angles?

no, sorry... these are from bluenile, and this is all they seem to list.

If you give us a link, we could take a look at the certificates.

ok, sorry, i think i found the angels now:

#1:
ASGL, round cut
E
VS2
Depth: 61.4%
Table: 56.0%
Crown: 34.3 degrees
Pavillion: 40.9 degrees
Polish and Symmetry: Ideal

#2:
GIA, round cut
F
VS1
Depth: 60.7%
Table: 58.0%
Polish and Symmetry: Excellent
Crown: 33.5 degrees
Pavillion: 41 degrees

Both sound good, if I had to choose without more information, I''d go for the bigger and cheaper one (signature ideal).

thanks!
