Just a hypothetical scenario.

I wanted to get insights into different people''s opinions.

Based on the diamond price report generated from price scope
1.00-1.49 cts H&A cut Round: Average $/carat

Assuming ~1 carat with almost all things equal.

E SI1 = 6613$/ct
G VS2 = 6763$/ct

since the prices are almost about the same

what would you choose if you (all things almost equal) had to select a E SI1 or G VS2 stone?

Well you know that hypothetical situations never really happen.

Personally I think that the VS2 is a waste...but I ended up with a VS1 because the stone that was my IT stone is a VS1.

If my stone wasn''t an unusual cut I''d be worried about IDing it when a jeweler hands it back to me. LOL

You''re going to get different opinions on this, but in the end it''s up to your own comfort level.

My stone''s a G, VS2 because I want''s comfortable going into the SI grades for an e-ring. To me, paying for a high color, and then dropping so much in clarity is not something I can get my head around as it defeats the purpose. But hey, to each their own.

Ditto.

VS2 is the lowest I am willing to go for clarity.

E SI1, no question!

I think you''re more likely to find an eyeclean (to my standards) SI1 in this size, and ultimately eyeclean is more important to me than colour tint. If you''d said 3-3.5ct I''d have gone the other way no question

I''d probably go the VS2 route, if all things were equal.
In a larger stone, I''d be more concerned about the effect of inclusions on light performance, although admittedly SI1 should, in most instances, still be entirely eye-clean.

E versus G is, in my mind, irrelevant, unless there are other stones next to it for comparison, in which case color matching is crucial. I''m far more concerned with color MATCH between stones than an individual stones'' color; G is fine by me.

I would pick G VS2... I don''t think I''m even confortable going that low on clarity. The lowest clarity on a diamond I own is VVS2.

I''d personally would go with Vs2

I have an E VS2.. just because the cut and price were right.. but I was comfortable going down to a G no problem!

Color is always significantly more visible then clarity (as long as it''s eye clean), so I''d lean towards the E, theoretically that is. lol.;-)
