E-ring size in relation to the wedding band

I was trying on wedding bands today(at Fortunoff even thought my e-ring was not bought there) and I came across 2 really nice ones. Both are a bit wider than my e-ring. The sales associate told me that it is good to get the band a little wider than the e-ring. Is this true or was this just her personal opinion? What are your opinions?

I say that''s just her opinion. She''s probably concerned with the band getting lost under a large center stone. I''ve seen beautiful sets that are completely matched width wise, to sets that are significantly different sizes. Go with what you like. Keep in mind if you intend to just wear your w-band, or always wear it with your e-ring.
