Can someone please tell me how to include pics in a post. I can''t gt it to work, I tried for like an hour last night. My fiance''s ring is a 2.14C G VS2 princess in a custom platinum band, and I want you all to see it.

Hit "reply" to respond to a post, or start a new thread entirely (as you've done here).

Click on "attach file" button to the left of the writing area.

A new window will appear. Click "browse" to find the file on your computer.

Highlight file (make sure it is named something unique - I usually add numbers to the name).

Click on "upload"

The filename should appear in bold above the writing space.

Add your text in the writing space, and hit submit!

Potential reasons for it not working:
1. File is too big.
2. Filename is not unique.
3. File is not in proper format. The format .jpg is your best bet.

Hmmmm, I tried that, and it didn''t work. I''ll try again tonight.

THe name has to be unique -- rename it just to be sure, and it can''t be too large. My troubles are usually associated to file size.

Don''t forget once you figure it out there is a SHOW ME THE RING FORUM to post it on. There are alot of nice Diamond Rings pictured on there.

some initial help is here: https://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/faq.asp?file=attaching.files.htm

The files size should be less than 100KB. It is good idea to use Photoshop or similar program that comes with digital camera or scanner to optimize the pictures for the web: resolution should be 72dpi.

Try to use a unique file name by adding numbers and make sure the file name doesn''t have apostrophe, blank space or other weird characters.

What does it mean when it keeps talking about the URL? I am getting testy cuase I cannot seem to do this

You may just be confused, as I was for serveral days. There are 2 ways to get a picture into this forum:

(1) Attach (which is to attach a file that you have saved on your computer''s C: Drive) This is done by clicking the "attach file" button in the upper left hand corner of the post. Once in there, you find the file, and click upload. If the picture is greater than 100,000 bytes (which is 100K), it will NOT upload. You will then have to somehow resize the picture. You can probably do this by opening Adobe Photoshop or similar application, and resize the picture (using proportional resizing tool, so that the picture stays in the same proportions), and as long as it''s under 100K in size. You also must save the file using a different name that anyone else on here has used, so use a DISTINCT name. I tried a couple times using (1), (2), etc. as file names, and it kept erroring out. So I made up distinct name (used my username1, 2, etc), and it seemed to work. Also, the best is to save them as a JPEG file. Give that a shot.

(2) Upload (which is to attach a file that already exists on the internet). You pretty much insert a URL address from anothe website, and then when you view the post, that picture that was saved on the other website comes into view in the post, automatically, w/o having to click on the link.

Give (1) a shot, and let me know exactly what ERROR you''re getting, as I think I received them all!

Good luck!

I actually get two...grrr One is : An error occurred uploading a file: file extension is not allowed or doesn''t exist and two: An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator. Same picture...I am uber confused but I really want to post the picture.

Check the file extension. It should be a .jpeg file, or something else that PS specifies it accepts.

Often, your computer will save in .bmp, and it won''t upload to PS in that form. Then you''d have to open in an edit program and resave it as a .jpeg or other file.
