Hello Everyone,

I had another thread about Costco vs WF before and eventually after advice from several members and especially Gypsy, it lead to what I believe may be a winner for an E-ring.

The rock in question I have held until Monday afternoon. Before I pull the trigger though, I would really like some advice. Gypsy made a comment about light leakage after seeing the idealscope saying it was "acceptable." I do not know how to interpret that (it is barely, or, no problem it is very.. etc) and the problem is, I have not been able to figure out how bad it really is! Light leakage is still a bit of an abstract concept to me. Even though I can now pick it out on an idealscope, I do not know in practicality what it would mean on a ring and if this leakage is bad. The only thing I know is that on the ideal scope reference chart that stone is somewhere between excellent (at least I think).

This is the rock in question:

The gemologist said "...has excellent brilliance and overall light return. The trained eye of the gemologist found it to have a whiter 'G' color, closer to an 'F'. Its fire and sparkle is very good! The diamond is eye clean."

Can anyone chime in on this?

I also found this one, 0.72 I VVS1 True Hearts HCA calc score 1.2, for almost the same price. It looks like maybe it has a better idealscope, but then the color drops to an I. I am not sure if that color drop is worth better light return or If the leaked is slight enough that it is not. :?

I am not sure if I found a winner and should pull the trigger, if I should go for the backup, or if I should keep looking! :?:

Thank you for any help you can give! :wavey:

Whoops!

Thanks Canvasback - thanks for catching that I was typing quick since she is in the next room!

To answer your Q. I started looking more at JA just because it seemed like some of their more basic solitaire settings seemed a bit cheaper to me.

Thank you for the recommendations. Would you say those two are on par with the other two I posted, or superior...or is it just a difference I would see on paper and would not notice with my naked eyes?

Thank you!

The top diamond looks good to me and I think the 35 crown does good with the 40.8 pavillion angle. Hopefully that isn't rounded toooooo much. The idealscope is good, video looks good, numbers look good.

I don't know how much the ACA will outperform that stone.... If you just told me to pick one no doubt I'd choose the ACA... But if JA has the setting you want, I think you solidified a safe stone and a good performer.

It looks fine.

Thank you both so much! I really do appreciate it!

If the differences are negligible, I think I will go with the one I posted an Idealscope of.

I am thinking about this setting.

1.6-1.7mm pave.

Do you think it would be a good match for that stone size?

Also, do you think the side stones would catch or snag on anything? She sews and works with fabrics a lot... I have no experience with rings and side stones so I do not know if this ring would be a problem for her or if I am over thinking it!

Thank you all again for helping with my silly questions. I am very nervous about this and just want to make sure everything is right with the ring.
