I have two stones to buy but i am not sure which one is better. Any review?

0.65 E IF

0.64 E VVS2

The price difference between both is only $600.

Which one will be a better buy?>

I'd get which ever faces up larger. Do you have the dimensions? They both look pretty good. Is there a reason you need to have an E/VVS1 or IF? You could get a bigger stone if you go down to a G (which is still pretty white) and VS2...

That was my question. Is the "idea" of high clarity important to you? Because your paying foe something you can't see

It is sort of a requirement from the husband. not sure why. The dimension are as below.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. 0.65 E IF 3EX Ideal Cut

Crown Angle : 34.5
Pavilion : 40.8
Depth : 62%
Table : 56%
HCA : 1.3

2. 0.64 E VVS2 3EX Ideal Cut
Crown Angle : 34.5
Pavilion : 40.8
Depth : 61.7%
Table : 56%
HCA : 1.3

You really could flip a coin...they're SO close in everything...Up to you.

Personally I'd go for the IF, just for the sake of having an IF stone. You're in the range where the clarity grade differences are not perceptible to most of us mere mortals - you could go up two grades or three grades and still have a diamond that's pretty much guaranteed to be eye clean. So... since it's important to your hubby that you choose a stone with an excellent clarity pedigree, why not go for the best?

Now if you'd prefer the largest possible eye-clean stone for your money, well that's a different story.

+1 I would personally go back and talk to your DH. I think the DeBeers marketing scheme hit him too hard. I personally don't care what the clarity is as long as I can't see anything with the naked eye. However if he is really being stubborn I would go with the cheaper option since you really can't tell the difference between the two. Usually I would say which ever one faced up larger but that would be tiny difference since these are so close.

Ditto that. My advice is bring him to a jewelry store to inspect diamonds with you, and go one level above where he begins to see a difference between the higher and lower graded trait, even with a loupe for clarity. You can probably get down to G/H and VS1-2, at which point you'll be looking at almost a 0.20 ct mass difference, which is quite perceptible in terms of size.

My thoughts exactly. It's very likely that he will not be able to distinguish IF or VS or E from G color. Personally, I'd want a larger stone if it looked the same as the IF/VVS stones (i.e. "eye clean" - whatever your definition of that might be). :naughty:

Yes, yes, yes and yes!!! If the clarity grade of a stone is THAT important to either you or your sweetie, then I'd definitely tell you to go with IF. And although you didn't ask about color, if you are getting IF clarity then I would also advise you to get D color.

With that said however, if it were up to ME, I would pursue the biggest bang for DH's buck  . Everyone is giving you excellent advice and I would encourage you to talk w/ your husband and help him research a little more just so he understands the trade-offs. I don't mean to sound condescending, for all I know he may have a background in jewelry, so I hope you take this input in the spirit that it's being given. IMHO, I personally would lower the clarity grade substantially (and the color grade a bit) to get a larger stone that's bright white and eye-clean ... but that's just me ;)).

Some cultures value purity and desire IF/VVS stones for that reason.

Between those two you can flip a coin in terms of cut. Its up to you if you want to pay an extra $600 for IF.

If you are really set on spending $600 for something you can see, though, mail me a check for $600 and I will send you back an empty envelope

Of course I was referring to diamonds! what were you thinking?... :Up_to_something:

haha.. all of you are funny!

Thanks for the encouraging comments and words!

I will be talking to him tonight and let see what he says! =D :twirl:

I think its the photography, but the ASETs me the IF looks better to me. IF lover here as well btw. But as they mentioned, its a mind clean thing and depends on personal preference.

I'm another one that if you are sold on the IF route, go IF.
Now is not the time to save $600 - that IF will be with you forever.

I'm personally an SI2 (eyeclean) gal and very happy with the stones I've selected!

But I can see the appeal of E /IF if that's what rocks your boat. :wink2:

Thank you all for your constructive response. It helped us in our decision!

We have decided to go with the IF. =D Now looking for 5 prongs setting.
