Dust for my bunny Daisy

She's been sick since New Year's eve morning. She won't eat, she's reluctant to move, and generally looks very sorry for herself. She is drinking a bit, which is reassuring but we're still really worried about her.

I brought her to the emergency vet clinic today, everything else being closed since it's New Year's. The vet did xrays which showed that her stomach had stopped working. She got a medicine to increase gastric motility and an injection of fluids to hydrate her. They also gave me some formula to feed her with a syringe every few hours.

So please send us some dust. She's such a special part of our family!

Thank you packrat. Man, I'm so choked up over this. Figures that our vet isn't going to be available until Monday. Also figures that I started this thread in the wrong freaking forum :errrr: !

Your vet clinic doesn't have one on call for holidays etc? Do you know your vet well? I'd probably just call their house and ask pretty please could you come look at Daisy.

There's a special 24 hr vet clinic that they opened about 10 years ago so that the other vets wouldn't have to take call at night. It's convenient for them at times like this when it's the holidays. I brought Daisy to this clinic this morning and the vet was awesome but bunnies are considered exotics, like birds and reptiles and this vet doesn't specialize in that. Maybe our regular vet who does specialize in exotics wouldn't have been able to do more than the vet today... who knows. In any case, I don't know our vet well enough to have gotten his home number-- I'd have felt badly but I would have definitely called him.

Well shoot..more dust for her. Monday maybe ask the vet if something were to happen again during a weekend/holiday what should you do since the other vets don't specialize in exotics and maybe he'll give you his number or something.
 
Awww, poor Daisy and poor you--I know how gut-wrenching it is when your pet is sick and you feel helpless. Sending lots of dust to Daisy!
 
Vibes to Daisy!! It sounds like the e-vet did a pretty good job - stasis is so hard, but I'm sure she'll get through it with your help!

Packrat, New England Lady, Elrohwen, lulu, MoZo, Haven, thank you for all your kind words and support.

Daisy passed away this morning. Fortunately, my husband and I have 2 little boys who keep us busy and are a comfort on a day like today. While our children are our priority, we will always remember that long before we had kids, we had the bunnies (Daisy has 2 "sisters", Kayla and Willow), who gifted us with their loyalty and companionship. So, even though it's been a teary day, we have tons of happy Daisy memories.
