Dubai not only a diamond in the desert but a diamond market

I have the oportunity to go to Dubai. My question is I have read a lot about their diamond market and how one might be able to get a good deal there, has anyone heard of their market and negotiating prices down there? Also if this does not seem like a good idea what countries have the best deals for diamonds to be bought by the public.

Buying a diamond right at the cutting factory might be the least costly, but most unlikely spot to make a purchase. With the the consumer protection laws and with the vitality of the on-line market in the USA for Diamonds, I doubt there is a better place than the USA right now. If you goal is really find the best price, the Internet is the right place. I won''t argue that the experience of shopping in foreign places is exotic and strange, but few places would offer a compelling case on cost compared to what we have going on right here.

I consider the (qualified) American internet market the most inexpensive and safest in which to purchase a diamond.

Dubai is good for gold that you can weigh on a gram scale, but in diamonds it falls a distant fifthteenth to the reliability of (properly vetted) American internet vendors.

Don't even get me started on Middle Eastern business ethics...
