I have a .99 F SI2 (eyeclean) Princess of Hearts that I am dropping off with Maytal tomorrow. I''m so excited! I can NOT wait to get the setting back!

It will be set in a bezel halo with G color brilliant trap sides- I forget the ct weight offhand. (Originally I had told her step traps but changed my mind). The side of the halo will be engraved (rather than pave because I want it set as low as possible). The corners of the halo (like where prong placement would be) will be pave.

I had told her I wanted the halo bezel because I wanted the shape of the PoH to be emphasized. I know the majority prefers the prong halo (and I sure love delicate claw prongs), but I would really hate for my unique stone shape to get lost in a halo.

The shank will be pave a little more than 3/4. At the traps it may be at or a bit under 3mm to be able to taper to 2mm or so. On the sides of the ring there will be a few pave diamonds. I believe, like angeline (?) had mentioned, the sides bevel out a bit. A band will be able to sit close, but not flush (just as I want).

I''ve been debating on things to make my setting more my setting... I don''t really want mine to be exactly like anyone elses... but I can''t decide on any particular design element in the gallery. Other than that... I think everything else is decided. I can''t say enough how easy Maytal is to work with and how beautifully perfect her work is.

I.CAN''T.WAIT!

That''s all I got to say... I just could not wait 4-6 weeks to say, "Here''s my Maytal!" I just had to say that my Maytal ring is on it''s way. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I will try my best! Hopefully Maytal will take photos for her site.... that would be great.

Here''s the sketch (and the sketch on my finger- I love that Maytal does an actual size sketch so I could do this. My co-workers thought I was crazy but yall understand!)

Not crazy at all!! I admire the work you have put into this, and know Maytal will pull this off with flying colors. I am really excited to see it Sera!!!

That is really going to be a unique ring, I can''t wait to see it.

Nope, not crazy in the slightest, I think thats a great idea. I don''t bother mentioning my ring to my co workers anymore as they just think I''m boring

I haven''t seen much of MH''s work IRL, but her stuff on her site is gorgeous, that''s a great choice for a designer.

WooHOO! It''s going to be stunning! Excited for you!

I can''t wait to see it I think it will be stunning :)

4-6 weeks is not too long :)

I got sick Saturday night and was sick all of Sunday... so I couldn''t go meet with her. I have to postpone it for a week! Sooo disappointing! My student was sick all last week and I kept fighting off the cold... but Saturday it got me. Today I''m feeling a bit better but he''s still sick... so hopefully I won''t get worse again.

Congrats sera, how exciting! I think that if I had my time again I would have preferred the bezel halo, simply because I feel i cannot properly see my stone in the pave. I would have liked for it to stand out more so I think you are wise.

The mock-up looks fantastic, so I can''t imagine what the ring will look like! Divine!

Get better soon,

a

gosh, sorry you have to delay your ring another week but glad you''re feeling better..

wow i cant wait to see this project completed

I can''t wait to see it either! I''m reeeeeeally excited! I just hope I can take some decent pics!

I can''t wait to see it!

I just got home from dropping it off!!!!!!

It was kind of bitter-sweet slipping my ring off and putting into her little satin jewelry pouch.

We went over the details again... I''m still contemplating a rose gold gallery, though.

She is finishing up another PS member''s ring right now... I can''t wait to see it posted... it''s going to be GORGEOUS! It seems recently she''s got a lot of business from here... very exciting.

So... I should have it back in May! That is going to seem like FOR.EVER! But I''m excited!

OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See, that's why I didn't want to say anything about how it looked but YES that's the one I'm talking about!!!
36.gif
I actually didn't see it, but she told me about it and it sounds absolutely stunning! I can NOT wait for pics!!! It's so exciting to see the # of Maytal rings here growing!
I have to decide by Friday if I want the Fleur De Lis in rose gold or platinum.

I was also second guessing my choice on a bezel halo instead of a prong halo. The bezel would define the shape of my stone, which I want. But I think the prong set would be a softer look maybe??? Ideas anyone?

Well I don''t know if you''re a size whore (I definitely am!), but recently-ish someone posted a photo of two WF halo setting rings with the same size center stone (both RBs). One was prong set and one was bezel set, and the prong set one looked a whole lot bigger than the bezel set one. So that''s something to consider, because the difference was very obvious.

I have a prong set halo w/ tapered baguette side stones for my radiant, and I think because the outline of the halo itself has cut corners, the shape of my cut cornered radiant isn''t lost. However, the prongs do cover the cut corners of the actual diamond somewhat, so the shape of the radiant itself is not super obvious unless you look up close. However, most people can tell as soon as they look at my ring that the diamond is not a princess cut (they usually don''t know what a radiant is), so it definitely doesn''t look totally square.

Either way, the ring''s going to be gorgeous! I can''t wait to see real life photos! (Although your paper ring is pretty darn good!)

LOL, why TY! Though co-workers give me a raise eyebrow about it! It''s so nice to be here where I''m understood.

I''m not a size whore so not too concerned with wanting it to look bigger... I just love the shape and love "soft" rather than "harsh." I emailed Maytal to see what she says about it.

I think I''m going to go with the rose Fleur De Lis.

Interesting about the bezel set... Maytal, etc all said that the bezel set diamond should actually make the diamond look BIGGER?

I''m sure Maytal gave you the same advice she gave me, if you''re really set on keeping the ''figure'' of the diamond, go bezel. If you can delay it, you might want to wait for me to post pics (I could email you pics earlier, if you promise not to post them, it should be in my hands tomorrow). I decided to go prong, more on whim. It may be worth comparing, and just seeing if you think it''s lost. I know that was the MAJOR issue I was looking at, I hadn''t actually seen anything to really compare the bezel vs. prong, so went prong more on whim.

And as for rose gold vs platinum... those are very different choices. If you''re going rose gold, make sure you''ve seen it in ALL lights, and you REALLY appreciate what it looks like. Too many people expect it to be a strong pink, it doesn''t work like that, in the wrong lighting it can ALMOST be misidentified as yellow gold.
Just make sure you''re aware :)

oh and thanks for the compliments, I very much look forward to seeing your final product too!
