Kittybean, you have a great figure and you'd obviously look great in a potato sack. Out of the two, I prefer #2, but in my honest opinion neither one of the dresses do you any justice. Again, just my two cents.

I like both, but I love the satiny feel and look of 1 on you. It flows on your curves really well too.

About whether you should go traditional or different, I would suggest different. I based it on your ring, it''s so gorgeous and elegant, but certainly not traditional. 1 would seem to suit your personality more, imo atleast.
My mom said the same thing! She thought #1 suited my personality better. How cool that you were able to pick that up from my ring--guess FI knows me pretty well =).

If you can''t decide between the two of them then neither is the one. I do like the first better, but keep looking. You mght try garden bridal outlet. It is a bit of a hike, but they were REALLY great to work with; much better than wel respected, higher end places I went to.

BTW, good choice on the venue, I know you were having issues with that before.

Thanks so much. Do you have any suggestions of dresses/styles/fabrics/anything that might be better on me?

Kittybean, I am so late to respond because I think you look great in both! I know, I am no help at all, but I just wanted to add my name to the list of people who think you could wear anything and look great. Good luck with the dress search- you have looked beautiful in all of them so far, and I have no doubt you''ll look fantastic in whatever you choose.

Thanks for the tip--I think I will try them. I''ll look them up tonight. I''m unemployed at the moment, so I welcome the opportunity for any excursions =).

As far as the venue goes, I am really excited about the one I chose. Do you know which one it is? They have been a dream to work with so far.

You are so close to your wedding date! I hope things are going smoothly and wonderfully for you.

Thanks so much for the kind words and the vote of confidence! You made me smile

WOW!!!! (refering to #1)

Caroline Bessette-Kennedy''s wedding gown is in my list of top five most memorable gowns, so of course I''m drawn to no. 1. It''s definately flattering to your figure (or vice-versa, I suspect). I really like the elegant glam element. It also looks uber-sophisticated to me, enough so that I think it''s most appropriate for a bride that''s maybe 25 years old or older. The only hesitation I have with it is that it looks bit more like an evening gown than a wedding gown -- I can almost picture it with a "Miss Pricescope" sash -- but that''s probably just my overactive imagination at play.

DEFINITELY #2!!!! I think it flatters your figure more than #1.

yeah I''m thinking the same. I adore number 2, although number 1 is very pretty also.

#1... Hands down! You look stunning in it!

I LOVEEEEEEE dress #1!!!!!!!

It looks so elegant and incredibly classy and looks like it was made to fit your body!

Ditto, it is so simple and elegant and once it fit correctly I think it would look perfect

I read through all of the posts in reply to your OP and it seems like the PS world is pretty split on this one! They both DO look fabulous on you and I can imagine that if Dress #2 were tailored to be a little more figure hugging it would be even more gorgeous.

In contrast to a few of the other responses I personally love the swept fabric on Dress #1. I think that the side swept fabric gives it some shape and makes the top look perfectly fitted.

I love the wedding plans you have so far, by the way. It sounds like a really fun event! Either dress would fit into your style of wedding but my overall vote goes to #1. I really love the elegant simplicity of that gown.

Wow this is such a tough choice as (like everyone said) they both look wonderful on you.
My personal pick would be #2. I think once it was taylored it would be sooooooooooo perfect, i love it!

good luck ! your plans also sound great, i love how colorful it will all be. YAY FOR YOU!

Kittybean - You look gorgeous in both dresses. However, are you really happy with either? You might have just not found the dress of your dreams yet. I might be reading too much into your post though. :)

# 1...

love it on you!

I have to say with complete honesty that you could wear a paper bag and look fantastic with that figure! I prefer (only slightly) dress #1 for it''s simplicity and elegance. Both dresses, however, look amazing on you!

I too love #1 - you look gorgeous in it - but as the rest said you would look gorgeous in anything! I would keep searching as you should "just know" when you find the right dress.

This soooooo depends on what you are after.

Dress #2. Most flattering to your figure, looks very 2008 bridal. 20 years from now it will still look 2008 bridal, so if identifying a trend will disturb you later...?
Dress #1. Also flattering but in a more couture understated way. Not identifiable to a specific era.

Of the two, I would choose #1 only because the strapless mermaid thing is starting to jump the shark a little IMO. I like the satin just the way it is, and consider the side sweep to be an integral part of the attraction. A satin bias cut slip dress without detail WILL look like a nightgown.

You look smokin'' in number 1 - so much better than the model! I like the sidesweep as I think it hits you in the right places. Normally I think of the sidesweep as distracting from some imperfections in the midsection (like my belly

) but on you it really emphasizes the right things in your figure.

Two looks fine, but is it way big for you? I ask cause it is somewhat stiff and rigid, and thus comes off like the dress is wearing you a bit as someone above mentioned. If you need to order it in a smaller size then I have hope it may lose this effect in the right size. But the skirt isn''t doing it for me - a bit too structured. I would prefer a different mermaidy dress on you - luckily your opinion is the one that matters!

Trying to go for less than $1500.

Haha--yes, emphatically. All the dresses I've tried on are SO BIG. The samples are usually 10's, and I'm a 0 or 00 in street clothes.

And thanks for the positive review of #1. I did the unthinkable and allowed FI input on the dresses (I really don't give a hoot about him being surprised on our wedding day), and he really liked #1. He thought it looked classy and showed off my figure. More importantly, he said, "That looks like you." He liked #2 as well, but not as much.

So is this really bad? Will I look totally inappropriate?

Absolutely not. Dress no. 1 has way more structure and details than any nightgown... not to mention, when''s the last time you saw a strapless nightgown?

I think no. 1 is less obviously bridal than the other option, but there''s nothing wrong with that. It''s lovely and looks lovely on you. Once you add a bouquet (super chic with a cala lily or orchid bouquet? Traditional roses? A colorful mixture of unusual flowers?) you''ll definately take on that bridal aura!

of those two, i would say dress #2, as #1 does not look "bridey" enough to me. When trying on gowns, I tried on lots that were very pretty and looked awesome, but could be worn to a formal even in another color. I wanted a WEDDING dress, as this would be the only time I'd be allowed to wear one (hopefully, haha). Now, in comparing those two to the ones BB posted, I would say don't commit to either of the two and keep looking. The Jim Hjelm BB posted is gorgeous, and that designer has tons of gowns in the mermaid shape that would look killer on your figure! I know you must be sick of trying on dresses at this point, but a little more perseverance might pay off as it doesn't seem like you're "sure" of either one.

what about something like this? (RS couture)

or this from priscilla of boston

Kitty, what about these? I wasn't sure what style of dress you're looking for, but the following dresses are similar in shape and fluidity as #1, since it seems to be the crowd favorite (PS, mom and FI), but with a bit more omph. I don't know the prices for the Mori Lee dresses, but many of their dresses are within your price range.

Do a search for style #1302 - $1,550

If you wanted, maybe this could be altered to become a strapless dress

With no straps and in white?

this one, but I don't know much about Tara Keely, but I think prices range from $1,500 and up so I'm not sure what the chances are that this one dress is at the low end of that range
