Wedding Dress Input Again, Please!

I recently asked for your input on some dresses I was considering (see this post), and I really appreciated all the helpful comments you all had. Please help me again and tell me what you think of these two dresses.

DRESS 1: This is a Watters "silk charmeuse strapless gown with side draped bodice and bias skirt." It reminds me a little of the bias-cut Narciso Rodriguez gown Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy wore for her wedding to JFK, Jr. (If you haven't seen that dress, I suggest you Google it--it is the height of stunning simplicity.)

DRESS 2: This is the same Dress 2 from the previous post, also by Watters. I tried it on again in a different bridal shop. To refresh your memory, it is a "satin draped-bodice strapless gown, with beaded lace, molded empire, and bubble skirt hem."

Here is Dress 1. I apologize for the blurry photo, but the lady at the shop had no idea how to use my camera! This was the best picture out of a couple she took. Please note that, although the fabric looks like it's "pulling," I think it's just the result of another size 10 being clipped onto my small frame. My bridesmaid who was with me liked the body-conscious look of this dress. I hope you can get a feel for it despite the poor-quality photo.

I think I still like Dress number 2... Dress 1, just my opinion kinda looks like a nightgown.. but thats just my opinion...i guess it just doesnt scream wedding dress to me, but if thats what youre going go, go for it! but you do look really good in it!

I like #1...but not the side sweep of fabric. But I also prefer the luscious flowy satin as opposed to the more "rigid" look of #2.

Your opinion is much appreciated--I was worried about that very thing. I honestly can''t make up my mind whether I want to look more traditionally bridal or whether I want to do something a little different. My bridesmaid loved that Dress 1 was less traditionally bridal, but that could be the thing others dislike about it.

I wish one gown were jumping out at me during this process like people keep telling me it will

I think all comments are helpful. Maybe I will see if there is something similar to Dress 1 without the sweep of fabric in the same line.

They are both stunning!! You look fabulous in both of them. It really does come down to whether you want to look "traditionally bridal" (dress #2), or a little different (dress #1). I love them both. Tough decision!!

I think I''ve tried on upwards of 40; a bunch of these were an obvious "no" as soon as I put them on.

As far as my type of wedding, I don''t honestly know exactly what I''m going for. It''s definitely not super-traditional. Here''s some more info about what I think I''m doing so far, although it''s all subject to change if something else works better.
- The reception venue I ended up picking is an old farm that has been seriously revamped and turned into a gorgeous event center, with Victorian-style decor.
- There will be a plated, sit-down meal.
- The church where the ceremony will be is large and modern (I initially wanted an older, more ornate church, but the date was unavailable).
- My colors are going to be light green and dark purple, I''m pretty sure.
- Bridesmaids will wear knee- or tea-length dresses, probably in dark purple.
- Centerpieces on the tables will probably be potted phalaenopsis orchids (white or purple).
- Cake will be five-tier, alternating round and hexagonal tier shapes, frosted in green buttercream with purple ribbons at the base of each tier, with white orchid bunches or single orchids scattered on the edges of the tiers and the top.
-Tables will have light green, slightly iridescent tablecloths and dark purple napkins.

What does all that indicate to you? Do you see some sort of cohesive style thread running through all that jumble of information?

hmm...do you want a white dress or an ivory dress??? have u tried on an ivory dress?? it looks like it would go really food with your skin tone.. not really much I could really pin point on.. but what about a drss that is a little more lacey... by looking at your figure I think something like the pic Im posting might look good one you (you have an amzing figure btw! )

Also, did you try on the dress with a veil?? Maybe that would help it be a little more bridey?? Maybe one with some lace on it or something?? hmm.. let me think for a while.. hehe

I prefer dress 1. It is very elegant and makes your already tiny waist look even smaller. The satin does say "nighttime" to me, though. When time are your ceremony and reception?

Ooh, love the flowy one! That is so gorgeous. Must go look up which salons might have it in my area...

As for white or ivory, I''ve been trying most dresses on in ivory. Both of the dresses pictured here were tried on in the ivory color (according to the saleslady--they looked pretty white to me). I definitely think I''ll do a veil for the reception to look more bride-y.

Thanks so much for your helpful comments, and for the compliment about my figure! Most of the time I feel like I have a good figure, but I get a little self-conscious about being so boyish-shaped. I''m a former gymnast, and I feel like I still have a lot of that structure, which is not all that feminine.

Ceremony is in the afternoon, most likely at 3 pm, but reception will be in the evening. Cocktails begin at 6:30, dinner at 7:30 with dancing to follow. I''d rather do the ceremony later, to be honest, but the church requires we be finished before people begin to come in for the Saturday evening anticipatory Mass.

i like the charmeuse, but i'm not a fan of the side sweep of the fabric. i think it's sort of glaringly trendy since it's the only real detail on the dress...do you know what i mean? but you look great in both of them!

BB - what gorgeous yet different those dresses are! I like them! Kitty, you''ve got to try and find the flowy one that you liked!

I like both, but I love the satiny feel and look of 1 on you. It flows on your curves really well too.

About whether you should go traditional or different, I would suggest different. I based it on your ring, it''s so gorgeous and elegant, but certainly not traditional. 1 would seem to suit your personality more, imo atleast.

Dress # 1 !!! Its a timeless classic.
Dress number too just seems to be a bit too much. I think it overwhelms your small frame.

I think #1 looks best on you. #2 looks a little like it is wearing you while #1 seems to fit very nicely around your curves.

Blondebunny: I lurve that dress.

Kittybean, I am torn. At first I thought #1 looked too "nightgowny" but then again I think #2 looks so much like everyone''s dresses these days.

I personally like the side swept look of #1 because you definately have the body for it. Sooooowa, I think I have to go with #1 even though I orginally thought I was going to saw #2.
