Hi All
I am in Ma and trying to budget for everything ahead of time. My dress is a Maggie Sottero, w/corset back.
How much do you think I need to budget for alterations?? its probably only going to be the length that needs to be done and maybe
"MAYBE" the dress will need to be taken in a bit, but i doubt it.................

so that being said...how much do you think alterations will cost?

It really depends on how much detailing is going on where the dress needs to be altered, and where you take it to get it altered.

I had to take about a foot off the length, but my dress had NO beading at the bottom. I think that alone was about $100 from a seamstress, not a bridal salon. Then the bust needed to be taken in, and there was beading all along the bust, plus this was really complicated, so I ended up spending $225 total I think.

thanks - i will be taking my dress to a seamstress. im just trying to get a ballpark idea of what it will cost.
under $500 or over $1000 - LOL

thank you all in advance for your responses!

My alterations came to around 150...done at davids bridal...which i would not reccommend.

Anywhere from $100-500 depending on the place you take it, the details of the dress, and how much work to be done. Of course it could be more, but I think that''s a pretty average range.

I think having a corset back will really help to keep down alteration costs because there shouldn''t be many, if any, alterations on the bodice. The bulk of the costs on my alterations was to have the bodice (and hips) taken in...I believe the hem (even with 4 layers), the bustle and final pressing only came to about $150.

I also have a maggie sottero dress with a corset back and it cost me $250 for hem & bustle. On the bodice, because it is a corset back, I did not need any alterations- they just adjusted the lacing of the corest tighter or looser.

wow! that''s awesome! I had lots of layers too, but it was significantly more than that.

It would depend on your dress - how many details there are etc. I would estimate $300-400, but would think it would be less.

thanks for all the feedback ladies. im hoping it will be $500 or under. I like to "over" estimate and then be happily surprised if its less.
