Hello,

I am pretty fresh out of lurkdom, but have been drooling over everyone's pieces for awhile. (OK, maybe obsessively :) ) Right now we are in the process of resetting the stone from my engagement ring. We have chosen to go with BGD, and I had a quick question about your beautiful dream ring. (Gorgeous design by the way!) Because it would be for the engagement ring and not the wedding band, I don't have to worry about it eating prongs; however, that style has more of the girdle on the tiny diamonds exposed than most bands. Do you find that you have to really baby it or that you end up with a bunch of chipped stones. I am careful with my jewelry (not wearing to do dishes, work outside, go to the gym, etc.), but I do actually wear it. Any insight you have would be greatly appreciated!

This one with a six prong head. :)

COmparing the shank on that ring to the pics of the Dream band, and my own ring, they look very different in construction. The engagement ring has more metal on the gallery whereas the Dream band is scooped out. The engagement ring has the shared prongs further apart from one another whereas the Dream band has prongs very close together. The Dream band has a bezel at the end of the stones and the engagement ring does not. All that is to say it looks like a fairly standard shared prong half eternity, so my experiences with my Dream band likely don't generalize to it! All those subtle changes in design might change how it wears. The engagement ring is likely more hardy, though.

I have owned my Dream band three years. I don't wear it every day though. For a period in time I wore it daily, but in the last year I have only worn it about once a week or so, averaging it all out? When I wear it I don't baby it at all. No gym or heavy lifting, but I wear it looking after my kids, or pottering around the house. But I don't think there are any chipped stones, and I have not lost a stone after one fell out early on (BGD fixed it for free).

What WB did you plan to wear?

Thank you so much for your reply! I probably would have never noticed the differences. I'm going to see him next Friday, so I can ask him if he thinks it will wear well over time or just be pretty to look at. :D As for the band, it's just going to be a 2-2.5mm plain band. My wedding set was soldered together (and is now falling apart), so we are replacing both. I like that I could wear the plain band separately, and when I get to add an anniversary band, I won't have to worry about a spacer. Thank you again!
