DREAMER...I'm now having second thoughts about the setting--it looks so low set and I really dislike low set settings. I have a blingy diamond band I want to wear with it, and I'm worried the 3 stone will be so much lower height wise than the band. What do you think?
There's also this Unique Settings 3 stone (pictured below), but it looks blockier to me. However, it does look much higher. It's supposedly 1mm higher. Argh, I'm torn. I can't return the setting so I have to be sure.

I don't know! I like a low set ring. The original three stone looks like a three stone version of the solitaire I had my 1.67ct set into, which was medium height IMO. What is the height of the blingy band you want to wear?

Dreamer, I'm not sure of the height, but it's pretty chunky. It drives me nuts when, width/height wise, the band and setting don't match up. Both Unique settings have their pluses and minuses I suppose. Do you prefer one over the other, looks wise? Argh, maybe a three stone is not for me after all. It seems I just can't make up my mind and I keep wavering.

I do too Gypsy, but it's the much lower set one. That's why I'm torn. I know I don't like low-set. But maybe I have to just give it a try.

My budget isn't tight per se, but I don't want to spend a lot on the setting in case I end up resetting yet again in the future (with the way I'm going, a definite possibility, lol). That's why I like the Unique mountings--inexpensive but durable.

If you don't like low there's no sense in getting it. I'd call Mark at ERD and tell him you want fluid, delicate, but high and are on a budget and see what he says.

Both, Amy--if the 3 stone satisfies the bling craving, then I won't sell the stone. If the 3 stone doesn't work out, then I might still try to sell. Who knows?! lol

Exactly. But I think the stones are higher, which is what you said you didn't like about that one. Then again, that could just be camera angles. Drat.

I think the problem is the prongs look really short/curved on the Unique mount, so it makes the stones really low set.

So I have an update, ladies! I bought me some side stones! They are 'I' color but I think they match my H color center really well!! What do you think? How do you think the finger coverage will be for a size 6.5? I really hope I'll like it. The setting will not be returnable, so if I don't like it, I'm stuck with the stones and setting anyway. I'm so nervous to pull the trigger though, because I just can't envision what it will look like when it's set.

As a refresher, the side stones are almost 5mm (4.93 and 4.95mm) and the center is 6.23mm (.98 carat but it's cut deep).

So, my next question is, do you like 3 stones better when the stones are all bout the same height, or do you prefer when the side stones are lower than the center?

I think I like them angled (meaning not all straight across the top), but boy...haven't thought about it too much.

As for keeping the stones, apparently the latest advice on my thread is that I should.

The stones look great together, I really like the proportions! I also prefer the stones to be set at the same or almost the same height, especially with larger sidees, with the sidestones angled, like the Unique setting.

I personally prefer the sidestones to be set a bit lower than the center but that is personal preference. If it's finger coverage you're going for, all stones the same general height is probably your best bet.

Nice stones! I think the sides similar height to the centre makes it look bigger. Initially I had asked quest to set my sides more angled and they didn't, but I liked the more even setting better.

Laila, I'm doing it kind of backwards, just have one side stone at this point, so not sure about the setting yet. I'm leaning towards BGD but I'm keeping my options open for now.

Thank you, LS! If my ring turns out half as gorgeous as yours, I'll be a happy camper. I will probably go with the sides higher up instead of tucked under. Agree that it seems to look bigger that way.
