Hi ladies,

If I have a size 6.25 finger, do you think a diamond band of nine x 0.10 pointers will be uncomfortable and rub against the sides of my fingers? Should I go bigger or smaller with the stones? I want to have the entire top of my finger covered but I don't want it to be uncomfortable and have the end prongs sticking out or rubbing against the other fingers. Dreamer, I know your finger size is just about the same as mine. Thank you so much for your thoughts!! :wavey:

No I think you'll be fine as long as the last diamond has a half bezel. Look at the Aurora. That's about the length of the Aurora and the smaller diamonds on that band were 10 pointers. Totally comfortable because of the way it was made.

Thank you, Gypsy!! It doesn't though...I like the ends to be prongs, personally. For some reason I just don't care for the bezeled ends as much. But will I be regretting getting 9 stones? Maybe I should only get 7...

Why don't you go get a fakey and wear it for a while and see how it feels? It won't be identical to a well made ring (i.e. your finished product), but it will give you an idea. FWIW, I have an eternity with 2 stones "missing" for a sizing bar and I find it perfectly comfortable. I was definitely aware of it the first few days I wore it, but after that, I didn't even notice it except for the sparklies shooting off of my hand!

Do your fingers "cave in" at all? So like you have extra room between them?

I ordered a 9 stone with 10 pointers in a 7. (idj made a 7 stone..) point is, they sent it to me and the 7 10 pointers was too small for total top finger coverage. I ordered (again...) a 9 stone with 10 pointers (this time in a 7.5) and I think that will fit better, but will still leave me enough room.

I think you are cutting it close with that size but it might also be perfect. I hope this post makes sense. I haven't slept yet. weeeeeee

Hi Laila, my ring finger is a 6 on my left hand where I wear my ER and WB. My WB is a 10 pointer shared prong eternity and I just counted the visible stones and 10 stones just about cover the top and visible sides of my finger. I find it very comfortable but I think it took a couple of days to get used to. Hope that helps.

That setting you posted looks like it would NOT be comfy. The setting is really tall, but the prongs would just stick out more than ordinarily because of that.

Re: Dreamer and Diamondseeker + others--diamond band help pl

Maybe this might be somewhat helpful...
I have a size 8 1/2 eternity from IDJ of 8 x .12 stones and it covers the top of my hand perfectly, with a little 'poke' on each side of the neighbouring fingers. Not enough to be annoying, just that those diamonds are partially hidden by fingers (ok, lets just say "FAT" !)

I found a google link that said what the meanings are for certain numbers and 8 helps with decision making (yeah, I'm crappy at decisions for myself!) as well as one son's month, and the .12 is my other son's b date. I'm all over the symbolism thing!

Thank you so much, ladies!

I suppose there's no real way to know until I get it in person.

Enerchi, your band is GORGEOUS! It provides a great amount of finger coverage.

Ame, yeah, it doesn't look like the most comfortable. But I am paranoid about losing stones, so I need the security of 4 prongs instead of the usual shared prong style.

My Sream band also has a bezel on the last stone and it makes a HUGE difference for comfort Laila. I have owned a band like the one you showed, and it was not comfortable at all and I did not wear it because it scratched me. Pay the big bucks for a really well made band of this style, it makes a difference because comfort is so dependent on the prong finish.

My Dream band is 11 five pointers and size 6.25. That is 25.3mm in spread. That equals 8.43 ten pointers :cheeky: So nine should be ok, but I would go for the bezeled final stone. If not, then I would perhaps do fewer stones, 7 instead. You might see some metal when you move your hand, but I personally think that is fine in this style of ring.

Re: Dreamer and Diamondseeker + others--diamond band help pl

Laila, the height of the setting is everything. My Memoire ring is a 5.5 and 7 ten-pointers barely covers the top of my finger and I so wish I had gotten 9! But regardless of the number of prongs, what is essential is that the culets of the diamonds are as low and close to the finger (bottom of the setting) as possible. My Memoire is set low and it wouldn't matter how many stones there are because they are the same height has the metal band itself.

Here is a picture with my 10 point band.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy that setting. I had a band very similar to that with 7 pointers and it HURT. The setting was too high and the sides were very pokey to the extent that they caused blisters from all the rubbing. The stones are now in a DBTY.

I know you prefer stock settings but that isn't one I'd buy. I really think you should consider custom settings. Not fully custom. But just call BGD and ask for the Dream Band with 9 ten pointers.

They don't work in 14k WG though, only 18k, which yellows really fast on me. :((

Ask them to work with one of the Stuller X alloys. No plated needed ever.

Ditto.

And ditto the prongy issue, been there too.

And I wanted to add that I have owned my Dream band for three years and have only lost a stone once in the first month I had it, BGD fixed it for free, and I have not lost another stone since. It is shared prong but made really well with excellent prong work, the surface is totally smooth to the touch and utterly comfortable.
