I wonder who is responsible for this?

Surely *someone* will show up to take full credit!

i''ll say Obama....cuz i know the Dems will love me for saying it.

I would say Obama finally providing some certainty and being open to letting the bush tax cuts expire are what's responsible. The people he's hired are anti-tax, supply-siders.

But since many have told me the president-elect cannot influence the market I'm probably wrong. Maybe Bush had a good meeting somewhere overseas?

MUST be confusing the terms "cannot influence" for "bears complete responsibility for".

now that Obama is elected he AIN'T gonna raise taxes in the near future.

Oh SS, I am so relieved to see the humorous side of yours.
Reading your postings from the other thread had me believe you are a bomb waiting to explode!

BTW, as much as I WISH eating w/ chopstick slows down eating hence resulting in one eating less, I can tell you based on my life long experience that it is simply not true. If we were to hold a eating speed context I know I can eat a whole lot faster using chopsticks than you using forks!

deco - LOL. I wanted to repaste the first sentence of my post in the much-hated thread:

"Obama supporters will say this is all Bush''s fault and I agree much of it is."

I blame much of the market on Bush and never said this was Obama''s fault. And I hope he can help as its in all of our best interests. I just wanted to know why we hadnt seen a bounce. But I''m going to put that other thread to bed as hopefully both main street and wall street can start to rebuild now that we have an economic team in place.

zhuzhu - trust me, I can be a riot!

I'm so excited for you and pleased for the rest of us

When you are posting like this, you are readable and able to engage in dialogue instead of diatribe. I mean this as a compliment

When I heard the announcement of who would make up Mr. Obama''s economic team on the radio today, I couldn''t wait to post to this thread!

I figured stone_seeker would claim that he had been right all along and that once Mr. Obama did what stone_seeker had said all along was needed, that the market had responded.

I figured that on the other side that Mr. Obama''s supporters would (equally justifiably) claim that as soon as Mr. Obama was given a little time that he had gotten down to business and that the stock market had been reassured.

How nice that no one fought about any of this, though! I guess that everyone mellowed out...and I''m glad some of you are seeing a side to stone_seeker that I always knew was there ;-).

Stone_seeker, I''ve got just one question for you:

Are you a girl or a boy? I always thought you were female but apparently you could be male. Which is it, please?

I went back and looked at s_s posts to answer this very question. I suspected he was a guy...and so he is. Just an educated guess

Not one blessed thing interesting about it. It was inevitable. The market is brutally oversold and long overdue for a reflex rally. As I said on the bad market thread, I covered my short positions on Thursday because Friday was option expiration which is considered a fine time for short seller - hunting. I expect this rally could go on awhile but the low has not been seen yet. Any excuse will do - the naming of the Treasury Secretary was what got it started. Still not sure how the Messiah plans to fund his ambitious spending (giveaway) plans with the economy in the shape it's in.

The most vicious rallies take place in bear markets. They are always selling opportunities. Take the bull market of 2003 - 2007 for instance.

My Messiah is different than your Messiah. I''m still waiting for mine to come. Could you knock this off already. You have some interesting points to make, but I can''t read them when they are coated with such a heavy layer of derision. Makes it hard to swallow. Do you want to provoke or educate

Maybe the Citigroup bailout and the appointment of key economic advisers? God forbid something so easily identifiable could be the cause ...

I think anyone that has read any one of your posts understands that you are a self-styled trading "genius" that has allegedly made a killing in this market.

Is there a reason you feel the need to constantly post and brag about it?

Do show us more of that side! I, for one, could use some cheer.

tradergirl,

Some of the comments made by posters above made me decide to speak up. I have seen you post to threads about jewelry, so I know you aren''t here just to provoke people. You have to be interested in diamonds. Instead of just stating your opinions (which are obviously quite savvy from a financial point of view), you do seem to criticize others. That makes you appear like a troll-which you are not. I am honestly not trying to be hostile to you. I would love to see you included in discussions. You certainly know 1,000 times more about economics and finance than I do. Maybe if you would try not to be so harsh on others?

I do agree.

Now if you use your big profits to go buy a 5ct beauty, we would all love to see it - so don''t get me wrong!

Obama has no choice but to back out of many campaign promises. with the financial crisis, he has to handle that first. try to turn this around then perhaps start implementing some promises.

the worst has not come yet and let''s hope there aren''t any terrorist incidents to plunge the economy even deeper into a downward spiral.
