So, I'm hours away from making the largest purchase of my life (other than a car) and I need help!!!!

My boyfriend has let me totally take over the ring buying and I have decided to get the Petite Pave setting from Blue Nile. Now I'm trying to pick a diamond. I have it narrowed down to 2 and I can't decide.

My initial budget was $4,000.. but we do have the money to spend more... My requirements are Ideal cut, at least G in color and .90 is the smallest I'd be willing to go (I'd prefer to be around 1carat).

This first diamond is .90 F color, SI1 clarity, it is 6.30 x 6.25 in size, priced at $4345
HCA is 1.1 with Excellent in all 4

The second diamond is 1.02 G color, SI2 clarity, it is 6.44 x 6.40 in size, priced at $4593.
HCA is 1.8 with Excellent in Light return and Fire, and Very good in the other two.

I'm confused about these two, the first one has better clarity and is cheaper.. But the second one is noticably bigger. I had these both visually inspected and they both came back eye clean.

Thank you

I guess it's up to you..1.1 on the HCA is extremely rare! as is the F color. If you're interested in bigger though, than maybe the 1.02. Anything under a 2 on the HCA is great! I'd probably also go for the bigger one...

If you'd really prefer around a carat, then get the second one. The HCA score is still good, and I bet you won't visually notice a difference except in size.

what about the depth of the 2nd one? It's 62.6.. is that too large?

I'm going throught the same thing right now, it can be very confusing when you arm yourself with knowledge! Tough call but I'd say the larger of the two if it's eyeclean.

Good luck!!
