Hey all, very excited to say that with all of your help (and ERD and USAcerteddiamonds) I've narrowed down to 2 diamonds! Chris with ERD reports #1 looks eye clean to him. I'm be speaking to a gemologist about #2 on monday and getting images then too. Little worried that the cluster will be visible to the naked eye, but Martin from usacerteddiamonds.com is hearing from the diamond partner that it looks naked eye clean.

I'm sure voting will be more useful once #2 images come in (I will update post once they do)...but with what you know now, any votes/feedback?

The 1.46 H SI2 has potential but a couple of grade making clouds, you will need to make sure they aren't causing any issues.

Just to confuse things even further, I'll throw this one in too (able to get it from local vendor for ~$300 less than JA):

Thanks!

The very first diamond you posted has potential if eye clean to your specifications, the one above is ok but it is facing up a little small for almost 1.5 carats, plus you would need to make sure it is eye clean as previously mentioned and the twinning wisps weren't causing any negative issues too such as loss of brilliance or transparency.

Okay someone bring me back to reality. Just having a hell of a time here...

So Martin from USA Cert Diamonds (who is a drop shipper) found the 1.46 H Si2 (above) which is located with a vendor in New York. Martin has been quite helpful and encouraged me to pay $50 to have it viewed and appraised by Mark Yakubov at AGI New York. The diamond was delivered to AGI and I got a call from Mark who assured me that the clouds are not a problem, that the crystals can't be seen to the naked eye and that it's beautiful. He commented that the color looked more like a G to him and expressed that its a brilliant diamond with wonderful performance. When I asked for images to be taken, he told me to already released the diamond back to the vendor, but that he can get it back the next day (today) to take pictures. I specifically expressed that I wanted a face up perpendicular to the table zoomed in image and either an ASET or an Idealscope.

Here is what I got today:
loose_diamond__1_.jpg

It's a terrible image. Not face up square with table and in response to no scope pictures his email says "I'm sorry but that's the best that we can do. We don't use an ideal scope as it is not something that we feel properly represents a diamond in a real life setting." Also, I don't know about you, but I feel I can see some of the inclusion on the table (2:30) consistent with GIA report. I called Martin who understood my concern, expressed that the inclusions can be seen because that image is zoomed in (is it?) but he thinks it will be eye clean. He also expressed that "since the HCA was so good, I feel confident that it will produce." Even as a rookie I have learned that this is not true....come on Martin!

So Martin is going to call Mark to find out more about the situation tomorrow. He has shared that he can ship it to me still and that I can return it if I don't like it.

:wall:
Essentially there are a lot of "red flags" as you can see...love to hear your thoughts!

(PS-Thanks to Lorelei for feedback earlier in week!)

(bumping to get some help on the last post above, please). Thanks!

I think that the crystal in the 1.46 SI2 can be seen by someone with good eyesight. There are few truly eyeclean SI2 stones nowadays. However, I think those crystals will look similar to dust specks or something small like that.

The first stone, the SI1, would be a safer bet, imo. That's just my opinion. I bought an SI2 that's not perfectly eyeclean but I picked that stone for myself, which is different from trying to pick "eyeclean enough" for somebody else.

Thanks TC! How about about this stone?

I noticed a little something that came up in each image that I was wondering if will be noticeable. I see at about the 10:30 arrow a little darkness that typically is white maybe due to the cut. Also in similar area it looks a little funny on the arrows image. Can others see these two areas and is it a problem? Are the ASET and idealscopes bad?
